Tycoon Steve Morgan has pleaded with Liverpool's board to accept his £70m bid to take control at Anfield.

Chairman David Moores is considering his future after a stormy annual general meeting and admits he is weighing up Morgan's offer.

Morgan, a critic of Moores, said: "I am here with an offer and they can have money in the bank by Christmas.

"Rafael Benitez can have funds and there will be finance to build a new stadium. Please accept my offer."

Moores considers Liverpool future

Morgan, who is Liverpool's third largest shareholder, has been attempting to plough money into the club for several years and made an official offer last May.

He revealed he was close to succeeding a few months ago until he investigated Liverpool's finances.

It is believed the cost for Liverpool's proposed new stadium at Stanley Park has now risen from £80m to £115m.

Morgan told shareholders: "My first offer was to invest £70m in the club, which was turned down.

It seems a deal would be done with the devil himself rather than with Mr Morgan
Mrs Didy Morgan

"At one stage we had pretty much agreed a deal but what I found out after due diligence was very different to what I was told before."

And he told the club's directors: "Please tell the truth about the figures for the stadium. You must come clean about what the costs really are.

"If this room knew half the things from the investigation I undertook they would be appalled, and understand why I revised my offer."

Morgan's wife Didy joined the attack on Liverpool's hierarachy, saying: "My husband has spent nearly £300,000 on legal fees trying to put money into Liverpool Football Club.

"The response hasn't been slow, it has been intolerable. It seems a deal would be done with the devil himself rather than with Mr Morgan."

I wanna know what he found out ???

Gerrard has just come out in support of Moores by claiming that he (Moores) is  the main reason he stayed at Anfield.
Don't know how to take that ? Is Stephen saying that Moores was more important than what should have been the real reason for him staying ie THE CLUB .
Moores inherited his position and his investment has never been in danger, he's made money from LFC, it's cost him NOTHING!!! The club needs a pro in charge and when a successful supporter like Morgan is prepared to put his money where his mouth is we should welcome him with open arms.
The fiasco of the AGM was brought about because the board could no longer cover up the sad state we are getting in to because Morgan did his homework and knew the true state of our finances.
It is a joke that we are so far behind the mancs and the gooners in the money stakes when you consider the springboard that Shanks and Paisley left behind. We should have been so far out of sight by now that they would never have caught up.
If we are really going to be ambitious then the new stadium should reflect it and the capacity should be on par with the mancs. I would not trust the present crew with the resonsibility of building the new era for Liverpool and we should ALL support Morgan.

OK Gerrard might leave which I know is a bad thing but if Moores stays we won't have money to rebuild the sqaud and bad decision will continue to be made, things in the board room need to change, I know it would be nice to run the club as a 'family business' but it needs a real business man to run it rather than a nice bloke like Moores :(
