Liverpool have completed the signing of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcola has agreed a five-year contract at Anfield. Liverpool will pay a guaranteed £106m for the winger, with add-ons potentially taking the fee to £123m.
Its going to be exciting having pace on either wing now. We'll actually be able to counter attack teams. I think we'll see the best of Flo now.. he's a quick thinker looking for quick runners and he never had that with Gakpo, Rio or even Salah last season. All 3 were coming short for the ball to the feet.
Also this should also help Isak.. players who can run the line and square balls into him.
He's clearly over-priced but it is what it is, i like signings who go straight into the starting XI and Bradley is one of those, welcome to the club mate.
Definitely looking forward to more speed on the wings, will cause all sorts of problems for defenses and hopefully allow more chances and space for Isak. I’m not sure he is worth 120m but it’s not my money and he definitely will bring quality to the team. I’d love to know if this is a manager’s choice or the club’s.
As it happens though the club is bringing in young quality players, if a good manager can get the best out of them we should be competitive for a while. We have the second youngest team after Chelsea. We have been an aging team for a while, it will be refreshing to see some youthful energy and drive.
It's not that it's my money they're spending but once we sign a player for a lot of money we tend to persist with them and hope they come good down the line. Hell even with not so expensive players we tend to keep them even if they end up being clearly not good enough. We're not like City who signs Reijnders for £50m and then sell him the season after after realizing he's not good enough (for a profit mind you). On the other hand, if we're signing a £120m player we're sticking with him for a few years regardless of how good or bad he ends up being.
Although he didnt quite get to the ball he made a couple of long sprints last night where you could see just how quick he is, it takes him a few steps to get into his stride but once he gets going he is ridiculously quick, like a young Thierry Henry type quick, Olympic quick. Over 100m he's got to be the quickest player in the prem, surely we can make use of that pace, maybe leave him up the pitch when we a defending corners for one. If we are playing anyone like City or PSG or Arsenal away who might pin us back having him and Frimpong on the wings and hitting them on the break with pace might be an idea.
On a side note was just thinking how quick Diaz adjusted the moment he got here, heck he even kept Mane out the side at times. He just slotted into a well drilled side I guess but also goes to show his quality.
Early days for Barcola but it's quite evident currently how his struggling to beat his man, given how quick he is you'd expect him to do well in that department.
I dont think his forte is neccesarily beating people in one-on-one's tight against the touchline its running onto well placed through balls, he's absolutely brilliant at doing that, he reminds me a bit of Anthony Gordon in that way. Instead of giving him it to feet we need to put the ball in behind the fullback/defence and let Brad's internal souped-up 16 valve turbo charged V8 do the rest. I can see him getting a lot of goals for us, he's not unlike a young Mo Salah actually, if he can time and master those out-to-in runs Mo used to make in his young days the sky's the limit.
This is the key point, Barcola, Frimpong etc.. play well against poorer quality but if they can't do it in the PL when once again we bought the wrong people.
