I wouldnt completely rule him out just yet, he's clearly unsettled as even Eddie Howe admitted yesterday, Howe didn't try to sugar-coat things, he cited Isak wanting to leave as the reason he was left out of Newcastle's squad yesterday.
Yes Wirtz/Hugo/Isak would cost a small fortune but the money we'll get for Lucho will cover Hugo's fee and the sale of Kelleher, Elliott, Darwin, Quansah, Trent etc would more than cover the Wirtz fee and take the whip out of the Isak fee.

Nah there's no chance of that IMO. Isak is probably unsettled but most likely from the Saudi money and not us.

Unless Isak puts in a transfer request a move to LFC was never gonna happen, so let's just forget that.
No disrespect to Joe Gomez but right now I'm more concerned about our CB situation. Maybe I'm missing something here but after Virgil and Konate who have we got ???
Lose one of them and we could be up Sh*t creek without a paddle

Exactly. CB is priority number one right now. Only VVD is a certainty as starting next season. Quansah is out, Konate will be out if he doesn't sign and I am not trusting Gomes as a starting cb the entire season. I would say the club needs to new cb's before another forward is even talked about.

Agreed, with only Gomes as backup CB should be priority now. Looks like Napoli have given up on Darwin so unless he wants to go to Saudi it looks like he's staying, so we have plenty of forwards as things stand and only 3 senior CBs with one likely to leave next summer at the latest.

I was reading that Endo could be used as 4th choice CB this season which worries me tbh. I know he has played there before but he's too slow for it imo.

Looks like Etetiki is a done deal so really doubt we are going for Isak also..It looked like he wanted to play for us as well.

CB has to be the next signing. Gomez won't last and Konate won't put eff all on the line if he's waiting to go to Madrid. As it is I think that department will let us down in the long run.

I know it was only a behind closed doors friendly at Kirkby against Stoke but fv.ck me we looked good, Wirtz is going to be an absolute superstar his link up play is off the charts, watching him is like watching a young Kenny. Darwin looks fit and quick and hungry too, he scored a hat trick in the opening 19 minutes, some great finishes as well. As for Frimpong he's got to be juicing that lad, he's so quick it's ridiculous. We are going to do some damage this year you can see it.

We could see Robbo move into a CB roll if need be, aging FB's usually migrate into the centre.

Anyway, if Liverpool really thought there was an issue we'd have bought someone by now. I can't work out why we haven't put Guehi to bed.

Hugo Ekitike is expected to arrive in the UK on Tuesday for a medical and to finalise a six-year contract after Liverpool reached a total agreement in principle with Eintracht Frankfurt over a deal worth £79m (€91.5m).

Liverpool are understood to have kept a contingent of staff in the UK to complete the signing and, once it has been, it is hoped the player will be able to fly to Asia to join the team on their pre‑season tour later in the week.

I think it's because we're in a similar situation with Konate, who should on paper be worth more than Guehi, but Madrid are only willing to offer peanuts for him right now or get him for nothing next season. Guehi is also in the last year of his contract and we'd look like suckers if we paid Palace's asking price when he'll be available on free next season.

Absolutely mad window. The maddest I can ever remember.

It’s not impossible that after Ekitike, Isak and Rodrigo could still end up in red, with Nunez, Diaz, Elliott and Chiesa all leaving.

Guehi might yet come in too. Like others have said it’s the CB position that worries me most. If we try and wait a year for Guehi on a free and muddle through with Robbo and Endo as CB choices we’ll regret it. I think we’ll make a signing though.

If they know they are getting Guehi next summer for nothing and they are confident about the big fella's professionalism the club might just let Ibra do a Trent i.e keep on playing him right up to the last minute of his contract.
Losing a player for nothing isn't quite as bad when you are gaining his direct replacement for nothing.
Doing that would save us a hell of a lot of money, money we could invest up top.

Edit - Not that they wouldn't give their all anyway but having a world cup at the end of the season helps not just us with Ibra but Palace with Guehi as well, whatever their contract situations i'm sure both players will be pulling out all the stops to make sure they are on the plane to the USA next summer. As a player you only get one or two World Cups where you are either in your prime or close to it. Both players are close to their primes so they won't want to be missing this one. Motivation won't be a problem for Ibra.

In any case we need another CB as we lost Quansah and I worry about Gomez’s fitness through a season. Even if we did the CB merry go round you are suggesting we still need at least one CB this year. To be fair, Konate’s fitness record isn’t great either so we probably need two CBs

I still remember the season we lost VVD and our season went to hell. That season had so much promise until that moment.
