Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Everything has gone quiet on the transfer front since Jota's passing. Rumours that Diaz and Konate are looking for moves remain worrying and I thought we'd basically closed the Guehi deal which looks not to be the case. Elliot remains up in the air.

Pre-season training has started so would be good to sort these loose ends out.

Well obviously we will need at least a striker to replace Jota, if not Diaz and Nunez as well. That’s potentially three strikes so I’d say Diaz will have to stay now and we need to try to replace Nunez.

To be fair to Konate he’s not on much comparatively. He makes 70k per week which is less than Tsimikas, Bradley and Gomez. He deserves more as he has become a solid part of the team but probably not as much as the 200k he’s reportedly asking for. He knows the system and he’s a big, strong and fast defender. When VVD was injured and he became the primary defender he did not hold the line as well as Virgil as a lot of offsides were going against us but he has improved and should be invested in. Having said that if he continues to be unreasonable then we need to sell now rather than January for less.

I don't understand why so many first team members want to leave when the team is at the peak of it's powers and we've just bought in 3 great additions? Crazy.

I agree, if we get the rest of the window right we potentially could be in for one hell of a season, start of a new era.

Madrid have once again caused friction in the camp. Konate has 2 options, sign a new contract, or Sit on the bench all season and ruin his chances of making the World cup squad. Madrid don't want him that much if they're only willing to offer £17m!! They just want another freebie.

As for Diaz he's just been flirting with a move for the last 2 seasons now..

Thing is they only want to leave for the "big clubs" but just like Madrid.. Bayern have got him to hand in a transfer request, and then lowballed us with a ***** offer. Now he's unsettled aswell!!

I'm sorry mate, what are you talking about? Have Madrid given an offer for Konate? And who's handed in a transfer request? I've not come across any of this.

I cannot see the club sitting Konate on the bench all season…often said but impossible to do. The club’s priority is to field a winning team with the best they have, then there are injuries to other players.

AS reports that Liverpool have set a hefty €50m (£43.2m) price tag for Ibrahima Konate, with the France international now into the final 12 months of his contract, amid fears that he could leave for free next summer.

The defender may be keen to follow in former teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold’s footsteps and move to Real Madrid, with Liverpool reportedly keen to avoid such a move taking place for no fee.

I'm amazed that VVD can't persuade Konate to stay... It further underlines that we can't risk offloading Gomez. What a crazy situation, why wouldn't Konate want to win the league next season etc..

If Konate and Diaz do not want to stay at the club, the can take a hike. Keeping players who does not want to play for the club is just counterproductive. Flog them off to the highest bidder and be done with it and get players who wants to play for the club.

Rumours in the Spanish press that we’ve put a £70m price tag on Diaz.
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

Barcelona reportedly believes that Luis Diaz has a gentleman’s agreement with Liverpool to be able to leave the club if the Reds receive an offer over a certain amount for his services.

Diaz has been the subject of constant transfer speculation for some time now, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich — as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia — heavily linked with the Colombia international.

On Monday, German outlet Bild reported that Diaz had given Bayern his word that he was ready to make the move to Bavaria, but Tuesday has seen the emergence of strong reports linking him with Barcelona again.

Barca is in the market for a new left-sided forward to ease the attacking burden on Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski.

It had looked as though the Catalan club would sign Nico Williams from Barcelona, but for a second summer in a row, it failed to get a deal over the line for the Spain international. Williams signed a new 10-year contract at Athletic Club last week, sending Barca back to the drawing board with its list of targets.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco spoke glowingly of Diaz toward the end of the 2024-25 season, while Marcus Rashford of Manchester United is also an option.

Spanish outlet Cadena SER says that there is a gentleman’s agreement between Diaz and Liverpool that means that if an offer in excess of €80 million ($94 million) comes in for the 28-year-old, Diaz would be allowed to “leave without a problem.”

Rashford would be available for around half that amount, but Diaz is Barca’s firm first-choice target, and the Catalan club is hopeful of driving down his €80 million ($94 million) price tag in the coming weeks.

With the passing of Jota and Nunez also at the exit door, I'm not sure we can afford to lose Diaz right now, even for the right money. Who are we going to get as replacement?
