Anyway, would you sell Salah if a good offer arrived for him from the Saudis?

I'd keep either Fab or Hendo but wouldn't sell Mo this season. I don't think we are ready for life without him tbh.

Reading reports that Fabinho has withdrawn from the trip to Germany to sort out his move to Arabia.

Wonder who we'll replace him with?

I'd like Caicedo but it'll probably be that kid Lavia from Soton. We should really think hard about this one though, because whoever we sign will most likely have to get straight into our starting 11 and will have a huge responsibility in protecting our back 4.

IF we are to lose both Hendo and Fabinho, we really need another solid DM that will go straight into the side. These are drastic changes we are making and I hope they work out quick. It will take time for out brand new midfield to blend with each other in such short time. Really looking forward to how we shape up next season, things are looking interesting.
Milner and Hendo had a huge impact in the dressing room so hoping others will step up now like VVD.

So the Saudi Public Investment Fund  has pledged full support to four clubs and Gerrard’s Itifaq are not one of them although they do get partial support, so they are not flush with cash like the four. I read they are finding it hard to come up with the 20 million Liverpool want to sell Henderson, that is why he was in the squad that traveled. Whether they get the 20 million from the PIF I’m not sure. I think Hendo knows he won’t play much and wants the 100 million he will get paid over three years, he should buy his own contract. It would be the smart move.

The team that want Fabinho are one of the PIF teams, they already have Benzima, Kante and Jota from Celtic. Firmino will play for another team from Jeddah and they want Mane also. I’m sure Fabinho/Firmino and their wives will hangout on a regular basis. I would bet at some point Salah will play for one of the Jeddah clubs as they are only an hour drive from Mecca.

There are outstanding restaurants, there are great spas for the wags, excellent international schools, it is a very safe country so no robberies when they are out playing and in December when it’s p1ssing down with freezing rain in England it will be a balmy mid twenties. Once word is out about the quality of life in Saudi, I can see the wives pushing for the move. More players will follow in the next years to come.

Fabinho to leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia

Brazil midfielder has been omitted from Liverpool's pre-season training camp after Al-Ittihad made £40 million bid

By Chris Bascombe 15 July 2023 • 11:39am

Fabinho is on the verge of leaving Liverpool after being left out of the club’s pre-season training camp.

Liverpool received a £40 million bid from Saudi Arabia club Al-Ittihad on Friday evening. Having earlier included the Brazilian in their travelling party, the club therefore took the decision to omit him from squad heading to Germany on Saturday, signalling the end of his five year Anfield career.

Fabinho informed Liverpool he wants out with his representatives having already agreed lucrative terms. His exit was dependent on Liverpool reaching a position where they are sure they will receive a reasonable fee.

The Merseyside club is now proactively working on his replacement. Having early established interest in Southampton teenager Roméo Lavia, Jürgen Klopp and his recruitment team are considering numerous targets.

While Lavia is liked, the admiration for him was not geared towards him replacing a senior midfielder. As the No 6, Fabinho has been a key player in Klopp’s system and he would prefer a more experienced replacement, especially as Lavia is valued at £50 million.

Suggestions Liverpool are turning to Brighton’s Moises Caicedo are not correct at this stage. Liverpool believe Caicedo is well advanced in talks with Chelsea and that ship has sailed. While Fabinho prepares to depart, captain Jordan Henderson’s future remains uncertain. No offer has yet materialised for the 33-year-old and Klopp is obviously reluctant to allow both players to go.

Fabinho joined Liverpool for £43.7 million from Monaco in 2018 and was a key figure in the side which won the Champions League the following season, and then the Premier League in 2020.

His performances deteriorated at the start of last season, but he rallied in the final months. It was not Klopp’s intention to sell him, but he has often said he will discard those who are no longer committed.

As the only outright specialist No 6’ at Anfield, his absence leaves a significant void. Henderson and youngster Stefan Bajcetic are the alternatives but Klopp needs more, particularly as the captain is also considering moving to Saudi Arabia.

Fabinho’s move will make it more difficult for Henderson to leave in this window, although Liverpool have not yet received any information to suggest an offer for him is imminent.

Good move for all concerned.

He's on £200k a week and has had a dreadful season. I worry if he's the same player since his injury.

The fact we've accept the bid says it all

I'd dump Tiago and henderson too if they wanted them.
Overpaid and underperforming. henderson is not good enough anymore and if you want to fill the quota get a conference player then...

If we shift Fab and Hendo then I'd keep Thiago. He's got lots of experience and is great (when fit).

Salah will definitely end up there and many others will follow ever season. It will be the perfect retirement package for players.

Mane will go and imo he should go, you'd be surprised the good work he has done in his home town. His transformed many peoples lives. Mane will go for the bag and continue to develope his home town.

Because of the way we allowed the team to get old a clear out has always destined to happen, I suppose we may as well get it out the way now.
The players leaving have all been terrific servants to the club but time stands still for no man.
Identifying Fabs replacement is going to be key.

I agree mate, what you  guys make of Arsenal's signings? Rice, Timber, Havertz... looking promising for them. Past few seasons they've spent a lot of money.

Arsenal have a very young exciting team on the up. They are ahead of Liverpool no question as they are younger and hungrier.
It will be tough getting top 4 for us...
