Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

If they manage to attract big names over the next few years then they will harm the premier league. The standard will improve and so will the popularity. The blueprint is exactly the premier league model. The stadia is there and certainly enough money to make it happen. The managers going there will also introduce scouting networks and improve setups etc.I don't think the players pay tax either so another reason for many to go. The weather and lifestyle is another one. Only a matter of time imo and I don't think the Saudis are in this just for the sake of it. They want to be the top league eventually imo.

Anyway, seen this and have to say I'm delighted to see it

I think this season is going to be the one where he really steps up and destroys teams!! Going to be a monster he is.

Looking increasingly likely Henderson is heading to Saudi. Supposedly been offered 700k a week on a 3 year contract. And it's all tax free in Saudi. So he will have banked over 100m by the time he leaves!

If we can get £10-20m, get his 200k wages of the payroll, and bring in one more midfielder than planned, it would be all be very good for us.

Jordan Henderson leaning towards accepting life-changing Al Ettifaq offer. 33yo set to decide imminently. Would quadruple Liverpool wages. Gerrard driving pursuit. If Henderson approves, clubs will immediately hold talks on deal

Fabinho too!

Al-Ittihad set to make concrete bid to sign Fabinho from Liverpool for £40m. Expected to develop fast one way or other. Key issue for #LFC is letting No6 go without replacement but working on this - Romeo Lavia among multiple options

You were right anyway Eagle with the 10mil fee for Hendo, Romano saying they hoped to get him for free. Apparently we want most of it up front as well  10 mil with 2 years to run is a bit of a joke tbh. He is worth more than that to us imo even in a scaled back role.

Hopefully it means we bring in someone established like caicedo if both do leave.

I saw a report that Al Itihad in Saudi offered 40million for Fabinho. If true we should go for both Lavia and either Tchoumeni or Caicedo

Yep saw that. If we can cash in over the odds then let them go and buy in quality.

What a crazy summer it may be. We have a bunch of over their peak world class players we need to get rid of, and they are looking for older world class players. Opportunity knocks!

We’ve just got to watch we don’t throw the baby out with the bath water here, if we allow Hendo, Fabinho and Thiago to follow the likes of Milly and Naby out the door and these new lads struggle to find their feet we’d be right in the sh*t.
I suppose we’d still have Trent, Curtis and Bajcetic but even so, it would still be a risk.

I see what you are saying but in the medium term they all have to leave. There may be a gelling period but we seem to picking up quality players that seem grounded so they should click. If I had to keep one of Thiago, Hendo and Fabinho I suppose I’d keep Hendo for his professionalism. Thiago has the most quality but usually injured, Fabinho has the most to offer but last season he was quite bad so not sure how he will be this year and Hendo has been a loyal servant and would be the best replacement for the Milner role of guiding younger players. If we could sell all three and end up getting two quality midfielders and the defender they are looking at I’ll be all for it. We might not get another chance to unload so much dead wood at good prices.

I agree with this. I'd let Hendo or Fab go this summer, but not both at the same time.

£40m for Fab would be good business.

Those Saudi's are raiding us! How we react to the departures is key here, sit and admire the cash and how we've zero'd our balance sheet and we'll be finishing 5th again. Take the money and bag the signings we want and hold on tight!
Expect a massive bid for Salah before the window shuts. I mean massive too. No way we'll get to the new season without at least a large lump of dosh dropped on the table for him.

I'd sell Fab (if the Saudis are really offering 40m) and Thiago but I'd keep Hendo since he's our captain and English for the quota. I mean I'd sell any 2 of the 3 if good offers arrived for them but not all 3.

Anyway, would you sell Salah if a good offer arrived for him from the Saudis?

It’s easy to get excited about lots of new players coming in but 1987 aside in my experience of watching us lots of new signings usually means a transitional season, i.e  a season of erratic results.
After last season’s disappointing campaign I would have liked to have to seen us challenge. I’m not sure an entire new midfield coupled with losing your captain and vice captain is conducive to that.
Because we didn’t spend when we were on top we’ve sort of been forced down the revolution route when evolution would have been much better.
