Think we're getting Mac Allister for sure. I don't know why we aren't looking at free agents though. The likes of Rabiot and Tielemans are out of contract in the summer, not fantastic players in my book, but for free I'd have them. Tielemans is likely not earning a lot either so even if we double his pay he wouldn't be above our average earner. And not just those two, there are surely others running out of contract that would suit our team.

I'm a free agent Mate

I get where your coming from but it's a lot more complicated than just throwing bodies in there.  We need to make sure what we bring in actually makes the difference and not just numbers. Signing lads like Tielemans just because he doesn't earn much isn't necessarily going to improve the team. Rabiot is a good player and his experience and quality would be welcome but the wage he would want isn't. He would improve us instantly where Tielemans would be just bench material and that's not what we need atm.

We need to make the right decisions on what will get us back in the top 4 and challenging again ahead of what might get us there. No point in signing players as back up to lads like Jones and Elliot.

The only freebies I'd be looking at is De Paul from Atletico, who worked his butt off during the World Cup, and he's 29 with good experience playing at top level.

And I'd go for Ndicka too. He's 22/23 who's had a brilliant season in the bundesliga. I think United are currently linked with him though, so we might be priced out.

With the PL and the Bundesliga now finished we might see a couple of clubs announcing transfers this week. Other leagues finish on the weekend so again we might see a few transfers announced after this and before players link up with their national teams for the summer games. Some of the players we've been linked to:

GK: Ron-Robert Zieler, DF: Jurrien Timber, Micky van de Ven, Joško Gvardiol, MF: Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch, Romeo Lavia, Matheus Nunes, Teun Koopmeiners, Khephren Thuram, Nicolo Barella, Manu Kone, Manuel Ugarte, Dominik Szoboszlai, Moises Caicedo, Aurelien Tchouameni, Youssouf Fofana

The firesales at Leicester, Leeds and Southampton will start soon!!

That DOF fella came in on a 3 month deal anyway so I would expect things to start moving in the next week or two.

Sigh, English players? REALLY?
When Mount costs 85 million and Rice cost 100 million+ there is ZERO value in buying overhyped overinflated english players...

Some interesting bits from Jorges 1st interview.

He will work alongside the recruitment team in determining which players can bolster the squad.

Klopp identifies the priorities and they set him up with a team of data analysts, Scouts and so on so he can choose from a list of players he wants to work with.  Jorge will then negotiate etc to seal the deal but it needs approval from FSG who have to be satisfied with the investments.

Will we go out and get Klopp the players guaranteed to make top 4 or will it be we have to punch above our weight every week praying we don't suffer injuries to key personnel.

To be honest most of the ground work for the summer window will have already been done by Klopp, Julian Ward (current DOF), Dave Fallows (Head of Recruitment and Scouting), and Mike Gordon (FSG president). Targets identified and talks had with them to determine how interested they are and what sort of package they are after. I'd imagine what's left is the final decision of the player to join us or not, sorting out details of the contract, and then negotiating a deal with the selling club. I'd imagine that's what Schmadtke will focus on over the next month rather suggesting new targets. I'd imagine if he is bringing players to the table for this summer, it will young projects and cheap squad players to fill a gap.

You would hope so Mate. I still find the temporary thing a bit odd though as surely Ward could have held on until after the window or at least till our business was done.

Neymar anyone

Chelsea’s Mason Mount agrees personal terms with Manchester United
Exclusive: Midfielder set for Old Trafford while Mateo Kovacic edges towards Manchester City move as London club begin overhaul of squad
A transfer fee is yet to be agreed by United for Mount, but Telegraph Sport revealed on Tuesday that United manager Erik ten Hag is confident he can persuade the 24-year-old to join and is pushing the club’s hierarchy to get the deal over the line.

Ten Hag regards Mount as one of two key signings in the forthcoming window and will play him as a No 8. The other signing he desperately wants is a striker and his dream transfer still remains Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

Talks have progressed positively in recent days over Mount and accelerated after the two clubs played each other last Thursday with personal terms not an issue and settled. It means it would be a big set-back for Ten Hag if Mount did not now sign.

Mount, who is currently injured, appeared to be saying his goodbyes as he joined in Chelsea’s end-of-season lap of appreciation after Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United that ended a dismal campaign.

Alexis Mac Allister has agreed to join Liverpool from Brighton this summer after a breakthrough in talks. The fee of around £60million is being finalised.
It is believed that Liverpool have met with Mac Allister’s representatives and reached an agreement on a contract worth more than £150,000-a-week.
The transfer is now “99% done” and there are now only the formalities to complete. An announcement is expected in early June. #LFC [football insider]
