Watching his highlight reel he certainly has an interesting technique, certainly not a silky player. He seems to just put his body in the way and muscles the ball away, seems to invite a lot of fouls. I can see why they say that about his offensive output Eagle. The one goal he score in the highlight reel was a wicked deflection. Defensively he does look high intensity though.

That Video is over 8 minutes long and hard to judge a fella on 2 or 3 second plays. He looks to have a presence about him anyway and looks fit enough to do the donkey work so could be a good addition.

You do NOT want to buy players from Portugal anymore. They were value once but now they are overhyped and overpriced...

Don't really know this kid, but judging by the video his defensive game is good but with the ball he's pretty average and these days you need to be good at both at the highest level. Certainly for 50m I'd want a midfielder who's at least decent at passing and keeping the ball.

A lot of talk today that we are front runners for Mc Allister and have started negotiations. Madrid reported to be in advanced talks with Bellingham as well.

Seems as though that when he signed an extension with Brighton earlier this season he had a gentleman's agreement that he could leave for a certain price this summer and has been having discussions with a number of clubs including Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, and ourselves. Seems an intelligent well rounded player who can play multiple roles in midfield. If we do sign him it would be interesting to see if he plays on the left in the "controller" role or on the right as a more advanced midfielder as he seems to be able to play both.

Liverpool to make move for Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool will compete for the signing of Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer as Jürgen Klopp looks to bolster his midfield as a priority in the transfer window.

Mac Allister, 24, has been identified as a target for Klopp after four seasons at the Amex Stadium, where he has established himself in the Premier League and also won the World Cup with Argentina four months ago.

As reported by the Telegraph Sport, Mac Allister is also on Manchester United's shortlist, with Erik ten Hag eager to improve his midfield this summer. Mac Allister also has a link at Newcastle, as their sporting director Dan Ashworth signed him at Brighton.

Mac Allister signed a new deal at Brighton in October which runs until 2025 with the option of another year. Clubs are set to explore whether he has a buyout clause under his new terms, which were signed before the World Cup, where his market value increased.

Klopp has been assessing which midfielders to pursue for the summer window. Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are among the midfielders who will be out of contract at the end of the season and with no agreements in place, they are set to leave as free agents. Mac Allister’s club Brighton are interested in Milner on a free transfer.

Liverpool have conceded defeat in the race for England midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, with Klopp likening the deal to "children wanting a Ferrari for Christmas". But it is an area he wants to strengthen and has also looked at Holland international Ryan Gravenberch at Bayern Munich.  Real Madrid are in advanced talks to sign Bellingham, after Liverpool withdrew their interest as they decided they could not afford to sign the midfielder

Mac Allister is likely to land Brighton a huge profit after they bought him from Argentinos Juniors for around £12 million in 2019, with this summer seeing central midfielders in demand. Arsenal are looking at that area and have West Ham’s Declan Rice as their No 1 priority.

Daily Telegraph.

Yay, that's where you get the value.

1. PL player=inflates the price
2. Just had a world cup= inflates the price
3. Other top clubs interested=inflates the price
4. years left on the deal=inflates the price
5 selling club in europe=inlates the price

so 50-60 million minimum and we need more than 1....

It does seem like we have moved away from our previous approach of player X or nobody. Looks as though we are having talks with loads of options and we won't wait on any of them or their clubs if it looks they will drag things out to the later part of the window. I'd expect a couple of key signings to be there when we start pre-season in July.

Having talks with loads of options mainly because we are losing a few midfielders. Last season we needed one midfielder , this year we need three, probably 4. Not sure it is about a change in philosophy, rather necessity.

We have a lot of dead and ageing wood in midfield, hence the binge spend. It's like when your washing machine goes: usually a half dozen other things pack in around the same time and you have to buy them all at once. Only it's going to be a helluva lot more expensive than replacing an 8kg Zanussi.

I think we'll sign a minimum of 2 midfielders but there is no chance we're signing 4. And I have doubts we'll sign 3 unless we're able to sell one of Thiago, Fabinho, or Henderson which I think will be unlikely.

Not saying we will sign 4 I’m just saying we need 4, probably stretched out over a few windows. No doubt Jones and Bajcetic will play a bigger role next year.

We are apparently close to naming a new sporting director https://twitter.com/JanAageFjortoft/sta ... e-26879745

Is Fjortoft right and we are only looking for someone for a few months ? Bit of a strange one that if true. What would be the point!!
