I cannot see too many people paying 300 pounds for a shirt, Nike will lose sales at that price as it is an unreasonable price.

If only NOBODY bought the "new" shirt , the money grubbers would soon get the message.

Personally I'd rather invest in and wear a favourite "retro" shirt.

£316 pounds for a kit

This is a special edition one off baseball kit. And the replica kit is actually £109.

Sure Nike will be bringing out all sorts of special edition stuff in addition to the fashion wear that's already in the pipeline which we'll receive 20% off. But the standard replica shirts that most people buy will remain inline with the rest of the industry.

It is a one off baseball kit featured in the article but its testing the water for a one off footie kit down the line at a ridiculous price.

They are all one off limited editions though because they release a New Jersey every year limited to the amount they could sell. This years jersey has recycled materials in it but that luxury has cost us more. It's now 90 euro for a Jersey and they are *****. If its worn regular it wont last the season either.

In line with the industry is just another word for cartel mate. They can afford to set their own prices and sell for far less than the mark up of several hundred percent profit they do.

My issue is that the club are more than happy to let Nike charge our fans whatever they feel they can get out of you for a piece of your clubs merchandise.  Yeah they get an extra 20% but again it's out of our fans pockets.

Nike wouldn't bother producing products if there was no demand for it. There is already a "Vapor" top that costs £100. No one is forcing anyone to buy any merchandise from LFC/Nike so a simple answer is don't buy it. But loads of other people want a range of products from special edition kits to training gear to fashion wear and are happy to pay for it. I haven't even bought a standard replica shirt for years but have no problem with Nike producing a range of products if people want them and are buying them. People can spend their money on whatever they want.

There is no demand for LFC merchandise outside of the fanbase mate but I agree. Its up to people at the end of the day what they spend their money on and if that happens to be a rip off piece of kit then who am I to judge.  :D

Are we getting a new kit every year now?

I think most clubs switched from a new kit every two years to a new kit every year over 10 years ago. Probably last time we had a kit for more than one season was when we had Adidas.

Fans used to wear football shirts and the kit manufacturer would sell a reasonable few. Players now wear leisure shirts and the manufacturers sell millions. Yes they're going to have a new shirt every year because thats what sells and with the Nike deal, the more they sell the more swag they pay LFC to buy better players and develop the ground. Its a nasty side effect of the business of milking football for every penny.  70 quid a pop by the way, not the 300 quid some were talking of. Its probably 10 quid overpriced, the 10 quid LFC gets?

Then it makes sense to make a nice kit that you absolutely have to buy, so far none of their kits meet that criteria
