If it is that Van Dijk, Keita and Coutinho have balanced the books then its just the same story different year. The circle will carry on until we change owners.
A net spend of 14m is pathetic however there is still time though so I'm hoping we do get someone before this window closes.

It seems like the addition of Salah, Ox, VVD and Keita and the sale of Coutinho is it for this year. There will be no more spending of Coutinho's money because it is already spent. If this is the case, how do you guys feel about it objectively? For myself, the team may have gotten overall better, but it sends a very negative message to potential targets. That FSG is more about balancing the books than anything else.

In the current climate the best we can hope for using that policy is consistent top 4. Nothing more

The journo that followed Coutinho around when it was going through said negotiations had been going on since July.

As usual Barca have tried to stick the boot in saying we lowered our demands dramatically.

Yeah feck them... even though i wont be surprised that the alleged topping up by Coutinho with his own money is sponsored by Nike. Maybe they are referring to that...

Probably also included forfeited bonus accruals so wasn't actually money from his own pocket and saved tax.

On a separate note, LFC will need to spend the 142m by end April or it will appear in the year end accounts and be taxable. We need an April transfer window!

Seems a strange decision by Phil to allow the Daily Mail to follow him around and have the inside track on the deal.
All that has done is highlight the fact that the club have known for months that Phil was going, if we don't sign anyone this window that has been the plan all along because we've had plenty of time to line up a replacement.

:lookaround

I'd be disappointed if the club didn't know he was going because just about everybody else did !

Of course they knew he wanted to leave. That's why spent 4 months trying to change his mind.

Few outlets running with the idea that Leipzig are opem to letting Keita join this window, between 13 and 17.5m to make it happen

The club has got to do it, if we miss out on next year's CL it will cost us double (or treble) that in lost revenue.
We need someone like Lemar as well, initially I wasn't too keen on the lad but I just want to see us make a statement in the transfer market that says Phil or no Phil we are still in the game.

We've been linked with Oblak again but can't see it happening anytime soon. He is one of the top 5 GKs in the game imo and I'd take him ahead of a Lloris or Courtois. He has a 100mill release clause though and unless A.Madrid decide to sell or he request a transfer it probably wont happen in the summer either. I just hope we dont get stuck in the 'him or no one else' mentality.

On Lemar, he seems to be Arsenal's top target. Even if he does favor a move to us, the price will probably go close to the 90mill mark because of that. That kind of moeny would probably be enough to get James Rodriguez + another top player.

Well time for him to step up and be the next Liverpool superstar instead of merely a Brazilian Kuyt...

He never went to Dubai Reg. He was given time off and went to Cyprus instead.
The Telegraph are saying we want to tie him down to a deal for life http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/201 ... nd-career/
