A bit too soon to judge both Mellor and FSP as they have yet to get enough games to develop and show their full capability. Rafa will need to see them more in training and decide.
But we do need a marquee striker alongside Baros now while we develop these youngsters. I will add ALT to the list too. Mellor was prolific in reserve while ALT and FSP showed tremendous potential and did well in French's underage team, but have yet to transform these potential in the Premiership.

Maybe not setting the league on fire just yet but he have showed his potential with the Czech team so why not with us?

He wasn't totally consistent in the Euro games, I think two of his goals were scored coming on from the bench.
I don't see any reason why he couldn't perform a similar role with LFC, supporting a 'Main Striker', but unfortunately we do not yet have the main man !!

Baros is a good player & improving all the time
He suffered under GH and his confidence went - hence when he was give the odd run in the side - he had his head down and was trying the spectacular or solo trying to make a big impact. Now he's first choice he's looking to use his team mates more

I also agree that he has improved and if he keeps working hard and Rafa keeps an eye on him and helps him improve then he can be a very good player for Liverpool.

He does get his head up and look for the pass a bit more but I think he still has some way to go in that respect, but he does bring a lot of qualities to the team. And most importantly he will get goals.

I think we are 2~3 players away from the "ideal" first XI for us now. A striker, a central back and a winger who can run at defence...oh and a back in form Kewell + a healthy Nunez.
Yes we do need a marquee striker.

what's the hells a marquee striker - is that like saying
"We need a big Tent up Front"??

I agree though Santa - I think 2-3 players and we'd be giving the top 3 sides a bit of a fright !!

marquee striker = proven frontman = 25+ goals-a-season man. I have a few dream names on my mind but we might not be able to afford them or they are simply not available. I will leave it to Rafa's good judgement to pick a gem from, possibly the Spanish league.

I don't want to sound harsh here either.
Shearer in the same breath as Henry?
Owen? I class as a Shearer.
Henry is in a class of his own as a striker.
Zidane is in a class of his own as a midfielder.

Like I said...give him time he will come good. He need more games and good coaching, which we lacked the past 2 seasons.
