For the last 14 years or so I have been trying to write an account of the Treble Season. I wrote one almost immediately after that fantastic season had ended then got drawn into re-writing it and expanding it and fully intend to pick it up again, for it is a work in progress.
Anyhow, I was very lucky enough to have seen some of the home games during that season and also the two domestic finals. One stands out, despite God's fantastic goal v Brum and Jamie's penalty winner. That was of sitting silently in the stand, in that baking hot sun, whilst Arsenal ran riot and somehow (thanks in no small part to Handball Henchoz) only scored one goal that day. When Owen scored that equaliser and then followed it up with the winner it was like a nightmare had turned into a fantastic dream.. Ec-s-tacy!!
To get to the point I would just love to hear of where other reds fans were that day and to maybe include their experiences in my account. As Cardiff is just down the road/track for me, even now, every time I near the place I just can't help but look-up at the space-ship style roof and think of that day.
Were you at home pacing the carpet? Were you in a pub - or in two pubs like two of my mates were, or were you working? I know what my story was - what was your's? or were you one of the hundred's or so of reds fans singing 'Poor Scouser Tommy' at the top of their voices on the one platform of Cardiff Central, in joy. That image has lived with me more than the goals or the game and the fact that 'God' could have scored a third reds goal. I loved Robbie from the moment I first seen him but that is for another time..
Hopefully over to you good guys and lasses..
