one of the true greats of world football has passed on, he was the top scorer in the 1966 world cup with 9 goals, he scored 2 and set up another in their 3-1 win over pele`s brazil and scored in the semi final against england. he scored 4 goals in the first knockout phase when portugal were 3-0 down!
he won the european cup once but played in 3 other finals and he scored an astonishing 638 goals in 614 matches for benfica. he won the portuguese title 11 times.
benfica are known as one of the greats of european football mainly due to this man.
