i would think sakho, purely based on the fact that he's a bit older and is wanting to move to earn a WC place.
if we do land those 2 then there is going to be some tough competition for starts. having options like that will only stand to us over the season.

Agreed. Why the fark didn't we sign them weeks ago though??

There's always loads of reasons. We all know why Bale still hasn't signed for Madrid but some things don't get reported. It's all conjecture but FWIW I'm hoping we get these two soon and have one more in on deadline day - this Yaramelenko lad
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Well lets see if we can get lucky panic buying in the last weekend.

Thankfully the BBC has a more realistic fee

Tiago Ilori and Mamadou Sakho: Liverpool close in on deals

Liverpool hope to complete the signings of defenders Mamadou Sakho from Paris St-Germain and Sporting Lisbon's Tiago Ilori in the next 48 hours.
The Anfield side are in talks with both clubs and hope to reach an agreement on the respective deals over the weekend.
Sakho, 23, who can play in central defence or on the left, has 14 France caps and is likely to cost £13m.
Both Sakho and Ilori, who is 20, are expected on Merseyside for medicals and further talks in the next 24 hours.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is also keen to add an attacking player to his squad before the transfer window shuts, with Chelsea's Victor Moses a loan target.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given could also join the Reds on a one-year loan deal as back-up to Simon Mignolet.
Kolo Toure
Kolo Toure was carried off during Liverpool's Capital One Cup win against Notts County
Liverpool have prioritised defensive recruitments with Aly Cissokho joining Sebastian Coates on the sidelines with a long-term injury ahead of Sunday's match against Manchester United.
Cissokho sustained an ankle injury in Tuesday's 4-2 extra-time Capital One Cup second-round victory over Notts County at Anfield, in which he was making his first start since joining on a season-long loan from Valencia.
"He could be four to six weeks, which is a blow because he came in and trained really well last week," said Rodgers.
"But he is on crutches at the moment and we'll look at that over the coming weeks. He certainly won't be available [against Manchester United]."
There was, however, better news on fellow defender Kolo Toure, 32, who was carried off on a stretcher with a groin problem against Notts County.
"Toure's injury is nowhere near as bad as we thought," added Rodgers. "We will assess that over the next 24 to 48 hours. We were all thinking he might be out for longer but he's made an excellent recovery.
"The diagnosis isn't anywhere near as bad as we thought, so we'll see how he is for this weekend. If it's not this weekend, then after the international break he won't be too far away."
Meanwhile, midfielder Joe Allen, 23, who also suffered a hamstring injury in midweek, will be back in action soon.
"It was only a grade one strain, so he may be doubtful for the weekend but certainly after the international break, he'll be fine," said Rodgers.

Oh stop moaning! We know how it works, wait till the last minutes and we have to stump up. It wasn't long since some were saying "pay the money ya tight gets", "splash the cash". Well they are doing, be a touch more grateful

Eriksen officially gone to spurs. Will be interesting to see how he does and whether we were right not to go in for him or not. Could go either way but no't entirely convinced. Suppose it's not huge money by today's standards so maybe worth the gamble

I'm hearing that this apparent Iker Muniaín rejected bid by #LFC is true.

I don't know how much we bid, or if we'll go back in for him.

Have it on good authority that Liverpool was in contact for Iker Muniain. Bilbao rebuffed approach, wanting to sell him on top form, not now

Liverpool contacted Bilbao for Muniain after Willian deal fell through. Was seen as an ideal, pacy left-forward, capable of adding goals.

Muniain has a contract till 2015 - Bilbao hoping to wring one good season out of him before selling for top price. Was abysmal in 2012-2013.

I thought it was £10-12m? If it is £8m then could be a shrewd buy. His only 21 so potential to get better. Will be keeping an eye on him

You know although spurs spending this window is enviable, they're changing so much of the squad in one hit I think AVB has a tough job on his hands to get them to gel as a team

Munain is a fantastic player and going forward will be up there with the very best. Would make the window for me if we got him. Problem is Bilbao are very hard to deal with and when they say no, it usually means no. They can't really go out there and buy too many players with them only having basque players. Could only see them selling for absolutely insane money

they also have a history of squandering quality young talent, the likes of tom huddlestone for example was a top talent and they didnt get the best of him

how many midfielders do they need ffs

Agree. That's a whole lot of players that will need time to settle in and acclimatise. I think all of them are from abroad so will need more time. Could get lucky and some settle in quickly but wouldn't be surprised if they did stutter at the beginning

Very talented player very talented - would certainly be a better buy than Yarmalenko. Hope we go back in for him again
