It takes time to build a good squad unless you have millions to waste, I'm happy with the business we've done and the way we seem to be building a decent squad.

Last summer we got things wrong and paid for it in the first half of the season, I don't think we'll make the same mistake this time around. It's difficult to attract top money signings when we're not in Euope and don't pay silly money so let's wait and see what the squad looks like when the window closes.

I'd rather take our time and sign the right player for the right money who really has the desire to play for us than pay over the odds for somebody who's just trying to get the most money and might not have the right attitude.

One more quality forward who can create and knows where the goal is and I think we'd have a decent squad. Not sure who fits the bill but I'm sure we've got a list of suitable targets and we'll sign somebody before the window shuts.

The problem is mate if we don't get into the CL we then start losing the quality players we currently have - Suarez will go and then followed by Coutinho - these players have short careers - they don't want to wait and build up slowly , they want to be in the CL now.

So the truth emerges

We agreed the fee with Anzhi (as reported last week) but we refused to pay £5m agents fees to kia jorbachian his agent.  Spurs paid full whack to the agent hence off he goes

So you want LFC be bankrolled to success? You want the club to pay £5m in agent fees? You'd be hammering the club if we topped the 'paying agents costs' when it comes out

If this is true then I'm pleased we don't simply give into outrageous demands from an agent. Certainly not sure that Willian is worth €32 let alone €37m.

Well, I know I said "truth" but obviously I cant 100% vouch for that unless I was a fly on the wall, but I've seen it in a few different places so far by respected jounos - and it does make sense.

spurs are throwing money around because they know they are going to get an £80m-£100m cheque from real madrid, it`s disappointing to lose out on willian but without a bale type windfall you couldnt expect us to spend nearly £40m on one player.
we should be in for the likes of papadopolous and ericksen though, there`s no reason why we shouldnt be strengthening our first team.

I want success - the players want success , Suarez wants to leave because we don't have CL football , players won't come to the club because we don't have CL - yes at times an agent asks for too much - it's not new news !! It's been going on for years - we had to do the same thing to get Masher from the agent. Spurs are spending to try and get success - they are speculating and it is getting them quality players that are needed to get them into CL. Do I want the owners to go out and back the manager and get in quality players - too fecking right I do - because we need them to be in the CL.

The slow build , don't get held to ransom or don't pay over the odds is admirable - it will earn the club a tidy profit - wont help us on the pitch though because there is always a club willing to pay what it takes and then we get left behind and when that happens our better players want to leave to go to the clubs that have the CL and have the success and are willing to pay the big bucks - how many players does it have to happen too before there is a big wake up call.

Can someone please tell which club has achieved regular CL in the prem in the last ten years doing what we are doing ? - the answer is no one - because it doesn't work.

Financially, we can't compete with Spurs THIS year as obviously they are spending the money they will receive for Bale. We are right not to pay crazy agent fee's. <ake no mistake, there are plenty of other good players out there who would improve us. This is where BR and Ayre have to earn their corn

Totally agree. Both Papa and Eriksen are gettable and IMO will improve us. Hopefully we are working on something

I would have thought the answer to that was obvious

Well, if it is true, then I'm glad we didn't go for it. Costing £35m + would be way to much. Anyway, what else does an Agent do apart from getting their client to sign on the dotted line, to earn that amount of money......
