Because Coentrao can also play in midfield and is massively better than Rose.

The Guardian are reporting that Lamela is available for £10mil !!!! He better not go for that and we don't at the very least make a bid

I like how you guys have seen 0-4 games from Willian yet you are certain that he's worth 30mill. The guy isn't worth it people. If we must spend that much money I would rather spend it on Lamela, who is also valued at 30m. I think he's a bit overpriced as well but I'd still spend the money on him.

Rose is a great LB so I wouldn't say that Coentrao is "massively" better.

If they want him as a midfielder then I really don't get Spurs. Half their team are central midfielders at the moment.

Coentrao is a top quality left back - Rose is a youngster still developing - what better way for Rose to learn than from as good as Coentrao

IF that is the case then refer to point 1 of my earlier post. We have a ceiling price that we determine his maximum value and we should not exceed it because there is a bidding war.

For what it is worth, Willian has not signed for Spurs yet, which is surprising considering his medical was yesterday. Transfers normally get wrapped up the day of the medical, assuming no fitness concerns were made.

It would appear that some people other than FSG failed to learn anything from the Carroll transfer market debacle.....

Who is determing the players value - the money men ? The manager ?

Spurs don't seem to mind spending the money on him - do they know something we don't or are they willing to go beyond their value to get the player they want.

As said in the article I posted - not going over players value is an admirable quality - not very realistic in the modern game and we will continue to miss out on players if we won't ever be willing to pay over what we value the player at - especially when another club enters the bidding and the price automatically increases

The reality is that because we cannot offer CL we will have to offer more than a player is worth to get them in. Sure, not every time, and I'm not saying there aren't very good players out there who are going for a song, but there will be times when to get the player we want...

And Spurs are currently showing the desire to spend over the odds to get the player and that's why their squad will be potentially massively improved by the end of the window.

I hear Ure are bidding Real Madrid 30million for Luca Modic. Maybe Shrek is out then?

I'd go for Modic any day and would be good to poach him from Ure.

Yes, or maybe they are in Europe and London. We'll never know, but looking at the team they are building I think many players will unfortunately pick them over us.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about Willian. But I wouldn't mind seeing the club push the boat out on someone!

Can only see them selling Shrek to PSG or abroad

And we wouldn't have a prayer of getting Modric Reggie

London is a big pull and Europe definitely is but it certainly shows the change in fortunes when we are losing out to Spurs for players for various reasons.
