Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

Brazil star Willian has BEGGED Liverpool to end his Russian misery.

The attacking midfielder has been left high and dry at super-rich club Anzhi, where billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov dramatically pulled the plug on his investment and ordered his big-name signings to be shipped out.

Willian only arrived at the club in January in a massive £30m transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk, but is desperately searching for a new club in what is a pivotal year for the 25-year-old with a World Cup looming in his home country.

The Reds are weighing up a move, and even though a formal bid has yet to be lodged, the former Corinthians playmaker has admitted he is praying for some good news.

“There are conversations, and I am hoping in the next few days for an offer from a club like Liverpool,” he admitted.

“If it is Liverpool, then they are a great club. The news came as a real shock, but I’m calm about it and hoping for the best, because I’ve been told they will help the players to go, if they get a good offer.

“The players have been told in six months' time the club will move back to Makhachkala [Anzhi currently play their home games in Moscow], they will bring in more Russian players and the foreign players can go, if they get the right offers.

“It’s not true that we will be allowed to leave for nothing. But the owner has said if he gets an offer close to what he paid for the players, then they can go.

“So I am hoping there will be something from Liverpool, because England has a league that I’ve dreamed of playing in.”

If Liverpool have to pay close to the £30m Anzhi paid in the winter window for the services of the Brazilian, the fee would certainly be a sticking point.

Willian has two caps for his country and currently lies behind Chelsea’s Oscar in the pecking order, but believes a move to England will help his chances of forcing his way into the World Cup squad.

“I think it would be good for my image. I would grow professionally in the Premier League, and it can be a showcase for me in a World Cup year,” he added.

“I know there have been some conversations, but I do not know what the valuation is.

“I have talked with the club and we have agreed it is better I don’t play in the team at the moment, and I am hoping it will be resolved soon.”

Depends on which newspaper reports you read, some are saying United are after him and apparently there are
strong rumours on one of their main forums.
Quotes say he wants Champions Lreague football.

Seriously what the f**k are we waiting for.

Let's get him in and get him NOW.

We are far to slow to move on these types of opportunities.

This is exactly the type of talent we should be going after if he is interested in joining.

C'mon FSG and Brendan, right player, right attitude, pull the f**king trigger.

Eds - Is it any wonder they are cautious having just seen £35m sail down the river with the combined sales of Downing and Carroll. These two players were FSG's most expensive signings. I'd be fkg cautious !!! Hope we get the lad though.

I'm all for being financially responsible. I think it's the proper way to run a football club, and overspending just to get a player in isn't sustainable (in theory).

However, with that said FSG are playing a dangerous game. They have gone after marquee signings and failed. We have sold quite a few players, including Downing meaning we no longer have the same depth in the wide areas the reported player is playing. There's not much time left, and the fans are growing restless over our lack of improving the first team like Rodgers was claiming we would be doing a month ago. If we miss out on another target, fans will be upset. Then we will be confined to paying over the odds come deadline day for somebody who may not improve our first team, or fit into the system the way Rodgers wants. It seems they do need to pull the trigger. I think we can see that the club are trying to finalize deals quickly now and are more willing to offer the money required. It seemed we offered Atletico an acceptable fee for Costa, but he didn't want to leave. Now it seems we may be trying to tie the Willian deal up quickly (if reports are to be believed).

FSG can't let happen this season, what happened last season, and they know that.

If we are in for this Willian we need to be quick.
United and others who can offer Champions League and in fairness a better chance of league titles could be more
appealing for the player.

The season starts tomorrow and we have off loaded a lot of players, it is vital we start the season well, but concerned we
haven't signed the type of player we need to challenge.

Agreed ,if he is really on our radar we need to act now. Otherwise he will be signed in a couple of days by another familiar name starting with ***** or Tot. Predictable.

Willian would be a great capture for the club... In terms of quality, he's exactly the sort of player we should be going after. My only concern about him is that he (much like Coutinho and Suarez) will be playing out of position to fit the Rodgers system.

There's no doubt that he'd add that extra bit of flair, pace, and dribbling to the side and would become a big player for us in the final third, but we'll need to find a way of getting the balance in midfield right if we do bring that type of player in and play him down the right flank.

One more thing, I'm surprised (despite understanding why it might be the case) that no one even mentioned Mascherano in any of the threads as a player we could be looking at. Apparently Barcelona are looking to sell and Rafa (Napoli) are interested in bringing him in. He'd probably cost somewhere between 10-15mill and my only hope is that he does not join any of our rivals if he does indeed leave Barcelona this summer. Would be interesting to know how people feel about him now...

He will be an upgrade compared to Lucas. Add some balance to our defensive game.

There's been no link to him but he would be perfecct for us I think.
Said that a while ago when everyone was suggesting Alonso, Masher would be more suited to what we need imo.
