Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Crops up every now and then this and whilst a sale may not be imminent I get the feeling FSG do keep a finger on the sale
button and if a decent offer comes in they will be off.

If we are going to make significant progress a sale is essential really to people who have the financial power and will to
restore the club to being a major force again.

Decent people, but FSG are not football fans and its purely a money making exercise from their perspective and the longer
it goes without making any money the more realistic a sale becomes for us.

I would happily see them sell the club

does seem like an article based on rumour and hearsay though.

We could have avoided this had the owners spent some real money on actual quality players. Players of Suarez' ability. I'm pretty sure if we had a better squad over all he wouldn't have kicked off. Truth is aside from Coutinho who else have we got that's actually top class? Ok Gerrard but he's past his best.

Self inflicted imo and the owners need to show some balls and spend real money. They are either very naive or very stupid to think they can get us back in the top 4 without spending like our rivals around us.

i think someone worked it out that so far this summer we have a nett spend of £3m.
our next signing looks like being a loan deal as well (cissokho).

i hope they're waiting to spend after the saurez deal goes through, but it's been pretty sad in the transfer market so far.

Yeah so just like Torres happy to spend whatever we make from selling but what else are they actually putting in? Above poster says 3Mil. I haven't seem the numbers in detail but if that's true then I think Henry is the one who's been smoking some wacky backy if he thinks this type of expendeture will get us anywhere higher than 7th.

Maybe if we were to bring in a couple of quality players suarez would be happier to stay, we are not even being linked with players. Zero intent by the owners so far, seems like their just tredding water.

Too late. They had last summer and then Jan to show some intent but haven't done anything. Will be a good lesson to them when Suarez goes that good players want to be surrounded by other good players. If he does go onto play for another club good luck to him. Players like him make the game enjoyable to watch so he deserves to be playing in the Champions league.

Imagine how you would feel if you the best player at a club which was going nowhere.

Who gives a fck over Suarez?! All this whining and bitching over a troubled young man which can dribble the ball while biting ,acting and missing like crazy??? I thought it was about LFC and not accommodating the needs of a talented problematic little ungrateful Uruguayan.

I wish he fail wherever he goes and you know what he WILL fail ,because he hasn't got the mentality for a CL team. The amount of energy fans place over this lad is unbelievable ,as if he was Gerrard or Carragher ,Luis cost us 18 games!! of bans and disgrace (at least) ,who cares??? Yes he is an LFC player and I will support him on the pitch but I wouldn't shed a tear if we cash up on the lad and see him leave.

As to FSG ,if John Henry leaves he is just a little LOOSER ,one thing Americans hate is being Tagged as one.

Postby red till i die!! » Sat Jul 27, 2013 8:34 pm

while i dont think the owners have covered themselves in glory at all, i do wonder at how much of it is actually them and how much of it is ayre and rodgers?.
ayre seems to be the main man involved in everthing and since he was appointed M.D we have barely made a decent transfer or sale. if we are relying on what we earn then he isnt doing a good job.
rodgers has his own ideas on players and he doesnt want top prospects or players for high fee's. if he was still the swansea manager then these are still the players he would sign and would say that they will be challenging for CL in a few seasons.
wouldnt surprise me at all if fenway do consider selling as they have probably woke up to the fact that the FFP rules are total $*i*e.

to be fair january was good, coutinho and sturridge are quality players but last summer was a total wash out and unless something pretty dramatic happens next month this summer looks like going the same way.

Was something in the Guardian today about the club denying that Henry is looking to sell up for £350Mil. I know they denied it but honestly speaking long term how do they see themselves making any profit but allowing us to survive on the bare minimum? The only real damper in the article was that there were 2 more Americans interested in buying us.

the squad will be making it`s way back home now so hopefully we`ll see a bit of movement in the transfer market, maybe even next week.
rodgers and ayre being 10,000 miles away probably wasnt ideal in terms of bringing players in so with a bit of luck things might start to happen now.
i just hope we dont have to sell luis before we can bring anyone in.
anyway it`s gerrards testimonial at anfield next saturday and once we start to play pre-season friendlies at anfield you know the season is only a couple of weeks away.
not long to go now before the season starts.
