A lot of you guys are saying that we may not need Eriksen because we've got Coutinho.  I think there's a couple problems with that.

For one, we will be losing Gerrard soon, or he will start to decline.  Either way, we need to replace him, and Eriksen would be a great replacement (although I still think Hendo could do the job)

Injuries and suspensions are bound to happen.

Depth- we complain because we don't have it, and now that we may be possibly looking at it we say we don't need it.  Having somebody like Hendo or Allen (who I feel will come good) in reserve is great.

Coutinho was not playing in the first half of the season as much.  He now competes in a league where everybody was, and players get tired as the season goes on.  He was a lot more fresh, so when next season starts we could see him on more level turns and he may not be as incredible as he has been.  I hope this isn't the case, but it's a possibility, and same with Sturridge.

Eriksen is a fantastic player.  He's more attacking, but he has incredible control of the ball and attacking vision.  He has something like 10 goals and 13 assists in league this year and 13 goals and 18 assists in all comp.  I feel that a lot of players who have done very well in the Dutch league, have also done very well in the prem.

It's tough to try to judge what a player from the Dutch league would do in the Prem.  look at Jozy Altidore.  Scored 1 goal in the prem for Hull (granted he was a teenager at the time and played in a side with possibly the worst service ever for a striker).  He's scoring for fun at AZ.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Same could be said for Dirk Kuyt. He was a prolific goal scorer in the Dutch league, but struggled horrbily in front of goal in the Premiership.

So in addition to Carragher, it’s looking increasingly likely that we’ll lose Skrtel and Coates over the summer. The Liverpool Echo reporting that the most likely replacements for the 3 at this time are Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Tiago Ilori and Kolo Toure. All change at the back!

Valid point, but those were both players who scored, and that was pretty much it.  They weren't considered skillful or to have really any ability other than to score goals.  Somewhat like a Darren Bent or Jermain Defoe type of player.

Eriksen isn't touted for the fact he has scored so many goals, but his skill, vision and passing.  Players who have come from the Dutch league because of their skill and not only goal scoring ability include players like Suarez, Sneijder and Van N.

I'm wondering why Schalke is ready to sell Kyriakos Papa... for 12 million pounds (reported by Tony Barrett). He's 21 years old, and apparently a beast of a player.

I'm not so sure this lad would be dying to come to us just for the small wage increase - he seems to be one of those fiery passionate kinds who'd probably want to play in the CL with Schalke.

Possible reasons why Schalke want him sold is a) He's injury prone, b) he is highly temperamental - so much so that it is a deterrent to his game, or c) to boost their coffers.

Can someone who watches the Bundesliga and has more insight into this lad's qualities give us an explanation why Schalke would like to sell / why he would like to come to us , and in general if this would be a good buy.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City have all monitored his progress in the Bundesliga, but Liverpool have been in contact with the player's father and believe he would choose Anfield.

He is not known as injury prone despite the long term injury he's had this season. He is highly temperamental but I doubt that that's the reason they want to sell him. I think it's just that they know that he'll leave sooner or later so they want to cash in as soon as possible.

I think Toure would be a great addition to the side a little small for a CB but still think he has the quality to improve us

I understand the scepticism however Toure will bring maturity to the back 4 as Sammi did in his final 2 years. Sammi was slow at the best of time but ran a tight ship. Gary Mac was no youngster nor super mobile but again he steadied the ship. We've been saying all year these young lads need a couple fo senior players to come in and provide leadership and stability so a couple of older lads bringing a calmer influence to the changing room and training ground come the big games will be welcome. Its the kinda transition player we need. Like Dirk would have been if he'd stayed...

Kolo would be a good signing as long as he's not on massive wages and a 1 year contract. I would rather have him than skrtel at this point.

As far as Erikson goes, if a player of that quality wants to join for a mere 15m you simply can't turn him down. He's a brilliant player and he and Coutinho would be devastating together. FFS fsg pony up the money and bring us Erikson as well as 2 cb and a defensive mid

If we get Erikson, papadopoulos, kolo, wanyama, and a young cb then it would be a brilliant summer

Also, I think Danny Rose is quite a player. If spurs want to get rid for a reasonable fee, we should take him. Sunderlands best player this year

We need two more players in the starting 11 who are capable of scoring from set pieces. This will help us beat sides who just pack the box at Anfield and also stop conceding from corners against Everton, stoke, wham

apparently schalke are in a lot of debt (rumoured to be £150m which is a lot for a german club) and by all accounts they are one of those clubs that dont mind selling players for a decent profit (they bought papadopolous for £2m from olympiakos) especially if the player hints that he wants to go (like lewis holtby and manuel neuer etc).
re ericksson, a lot of ajax fans think he has a bigger reputation abroad than his domestic performances warrant and i think ajax are keen to sell him whilst his star is flying high, apparently the more liverpool looked at him the more our interest cooled.
personally i`m not too bothered about bringing in another AM, i think other area`s of the pitch are more of a priority and i know i`m asking for the earth but i`d love see us bring in both papadopolous and alderweired(sp?).
alderweired plays right back for ajax (but can play CB) and i think a back 4 like this could revolutionise our team, people often forget that every great team is built on a fantastic defence.

                                                    alderweired       papadopolous       agger          johnson/enrique

add a DM like wanyama to those 2 and i`d say it would be a fantastic transfer window.
