If he wants to come here, I don't see why not.

I could see Alonso being keen to come back... not so sure fsg would sanction the buy at the age of 31.  And of course we'd have to agree a fee with Madrid and pay him a pretty high salary.

I don't think it's out of the question but i'd be a bit surprised.

Ok I'll rephrase it - Alonso won't want to come back to us because we won't be in Europe and the Owners will never pay the fee and wages for him.

Alonso is part of our past and history.

Alonso was a fantastic footballer while he was at Liverpool, part in parcel why we dominated Europe for a number of years with him in the side.

Benitez's fatal flaw was in isolating him for no reason at all and trying to bring in a player that wasn't even fit to tie his shoelaces in Barry.

Stupid mistake that cost our club dearly.

Benny is right though, he is part of our past now and we should be looking to the future. His wages would be higher then want FSG would want to pay so we should be spending our time looking for someone in his mould.

I know I sound like a broken record but our scouting networks need to constantly be beefed up, to find the next "Alonso"..........

Mile Jedinak from Crystal Palace. Just watched him play and he is Exactly what we need. 28 years old. Should get him quite cheap.

Not massively confident no.

And 6th only get Europa if both FA Cup finalists are in CL. If one isn't then 6th doesn't get Europa.

I think we can get Alonso even without European football. It's his wages that would be a problem. His age probably as well.

Does the FA cup runner-up get a Europa spot?

Only if the winners have already qualified for the CL.

And we won't get Alonso - it's not a worthwhile deal for either side.

If the finalists are in any European competition we would get Europe if we finished 6th
