Arsenal did spend in the last window, but almost every window prior to that they made an overall profit. Profit!

Are football clubs in the sport to make profits or win trophies?

It was always my understanding that trophies were the most important thing in football. Yes, Arsenal are making profits, they're making profits because they are selling off their best players who realise what an ambitionless club the Gunners are and are off to win trophies at clubs like Barcelona and Manchester City and Manchester United. Clubs that want to win all the trophies they are entered.

United make profit each year, why not take on board their mantra of being as successful on the pitch as off it? Arsenal might be successful in terms of generating a profit, but they are a failure in a football perspective and have been for the past 7 and a half years.

The Arsenal model is not what this club should be following. No fan remembers the team who made a £40m profit at the end of a season, they remember the teams who won trophies at the end of a season.

You've got the wrong end of the stick mate.

I think the Arsenal model is fundamentally WRONG.

The fact they have made significant profits over the last few seasons transfer windows smack of a club not willing to invest in there future. You can be a more conservative spender in the transfer market but if you do not speculate at some point you will get nowhere. Last seasons signings by Wenger were a reaction to growing discontent, only Cazorla can be viewed as money well spent.

Wenger is way past it. He should still be respected for what he has done for the club but he clearly is beyond his shelf life.

Sterling really needs a rest. How about we give assaidi a chance for once. If we can find space for joe cole and downing as a left back why cant we give him a chance.

Good news.

It's funny when I read that I thought, only 2000 a week. Then I realised.... different world.

No, just that he will get more money whether he scores or not

Bout time, though you cant blame the lad for chancing his arm when he looks about the dressing room and sees some of the absolute tubes playing for us picking up close to 6 figures a week.

"LIVERPOOL: 6 European Cups, 20 Domestic Titles, 3 UEFA Cups, 8 FA Cups, 10 League Cups and 4 European Super Cups and 1 Club World Championship

All other English clubs pale into insignificance!"

Looks like he is being charged for assaulting a woman in November. Seems like he is going to be a handful for the manager.
