Sterling’s response on twitter a couple of weeks ago to an article in the Daily Mail claiming he had demanded £50K a week:

raheem sterling ‏@sterling31
morning tweeps I've just woken up to this rubbish i can assure you I've not asked for that stupid amount where waiting till I'm 18 2 sign

He took it down a few hours later (no doubt after a call from his agent), but it would suggest that some sort of verbal agreement is in place. He doesn’t turn 18 until the weekend so I think he’ll sign by the end of next week.

Every media report has had no quotes from Sterling or his agent. Just pure speculation. But don’t let that get in the way of the Rodgers, Sterling and FSG bashing.

They want us to bring through youth players and if those youth players start to leave, it means that they only see us a stepping stone to better things. If we cannot tie a 17 year old academy graduate down to a professional contract, then why on earth will some of the world's biggest hitters want to play for us?

We'll essentially become just another feeder club.

What do you suggest we do then? Let a 17 yr old kid hold us to ransom and give him whatever he wants?

If him or his agents are asking for something ridiculous then they can f*ck right off.

We're still LFC for ***** sake, the fact that a 17 yr old who only played youth team football a couple of years ago and has frankly got only 1 goal in the league thinks he can hold us to ransom and that some of you think that FSG should give him whatever he wants is ludicrous.

Playing for LFC at 17 years old should be a privilege, If Sterling is stalling on signing what will still be quite a lucrative package for someone so young he obviously has no respect for the shirt

That’s just stupid. Discussions will take place between his agent(s) and Ayre and they certainly won’t take place at another teams ground. Final discussions and negotiations will take place during the week.

How do you know he is holding us to ransom? How do you Raheem doesn't want to leave for footballing reasons i.e. playing for a team in the Champions League? He might fancy playing in a Spurs shirt who knows? If he does leave for whatever reason, it will reflect on FSG and their failing strategy.
