Ray - Huntelaar wants 1. CL football 2. A very big pay packet - can you see a problem ?

Why would Huntelaar leave a CL club for a mid table club ?

Benny I feel that there is always room for negotiation. We may not be in the Champions League but we are in the Premiership which it is rumoured where he wants to play.
We are still are a big club that can attract top players and pay very good salaries. You do NOT know how much he earns in Germany plus you do NOT know what we are prepared to pay. I believe that if we push hard enough to sell him the project/club we may be able to get him. Plus who else will go after him, i think unlikely that City, United or Chelsea will. So that will leave us against Arsenal or Spurs. So why not?

He wants CL football - he has stated that. No negotiation will bypass that fact.

We would pay much fit Dempsey so what makes you think the owners will suddenly pay Huntelaar over a 100 grand a week !

I do believe our sights need to be lowered just a bit.

With just Huntelaar in January:-

Main striker role: HUNTELAAR, Borini
Wing forwards: Suarez, Sterling, Suso, Assaidi

The scum have 4 top strikers for generally 2 positions so 6 forwards for 3 positions seems ok.
Lets be honest out of those 6 you would only say Huntelaar and Suarez are top notch who could demand a place (not that any player should make such demands).
Carroll and Downing will be gone soon if Rodgers has his way.
Yesil not quite ready yet and won't be demanding a place as well.
Pacheco, I'm not quite convinced he is gonna make it at all now

Van Persie Top quality YES
Rooney Top quality Sometimes

Hernandez and Wellbeck NO THANKS

Yesil, PAcheco, Suso and Sterling are still young so can be moulded into the players we need. WE have Suarez and Borini in the current squad who should be playing at their peak. Suarez is good but not a goal scorer and Borini like most Italians still hasnt settled. Instead of getting two strikers in jan why dont we just go all out and get Huntelaar or whoever. Someone who demands a place because of his talent.

Why do so many people think Huntelaar would be a success at LFC?

He's 29 now and is the ultimate 'nearly man' of European football.  He's a 'name' but when you look at his career he couldn't cut it week in, week out for Real Madrid or AC Milan despite his success in Holland and Germany.

Also despite being Dutch, he's not a typical Dutch player in that technically he's not that hot.  He's a finisher which is what we need but he doesn't strike me as a Rodgers player in that he offers very little outside the box.  Some will argue that someone who can do their damage inside the box is exactly what we're missing, and I agree, but I think Huntelaar is a player who has always been overrated and at 29 I'm not convinced he'll have the desire to adapt his game to the faster paced Premiership.

We need a striker and Huntelaar has a contract problem.... the press are obviously going to link the two, but I can't see it happening and I wouldn't want him anyway.

So Benny:

1. Huntelaar wants Champions League........
So if signed in January that means United, City, Chelsea or Arsenal. Probably only Arsenal who might want him out of those four.

2. He wants a very big pay packet..........
So that probably rules out Arsenal.

Now do you also see a problem there Benny?

Then he goes to another club - PSG or Zenit or Porto or plenty others.

It's prob very possible that he would reduce his wage demands for CL football - that's his main goal - to continue playing in the CL.

Something we are miles away from playing in.

There's a difference between playing in CL football and competing in CL football.  He won't go play for some a club like Anderlecht or Dynamo Zagreb just for CL, he wants to play on a competitive team.

For the people that think the prem is a better league than the Bundasliga - check out the CL results from the last two nights ! Beating Real Madrid in the CL is the reason why players like Reus wouldn't dream of leaving Dortmund for us !

Wow you must be right. Based on that, i bet a German team has won the CL every year for the last 20...oh wait

So Schalke beat Arsenal instantly means the Bundesliga is better than the prem.

Does that mean that the Danish legue and the Italian league are exactly the same level as Nordsjaelland drew with Juve. Or the Greek league is better than the French Olympiakos beating Montepellier.

Benny you do make me laugh sometimes

Yes let's not forget Dortmund beating Madrid and Munich also winning. The prem is overrated by a long way ! Both La Liga and Bundasliga are better leagues. The last 20 years mean f*ck all when looking at the present day picture. Schalke sitting pretty at the top of their group , Dortmund sitting pretty at the top of their group , Munich in a tie at the top of their group. Germany will have all three of their teams go through to the knock out where as the prem at the moment will struggle to get more than one. It's more than just Schalke easily beating Arsenal or Dortmund easily beating Madrid - that's just a bit of a wake up call to people who think players would leave those clubs for a mid table team just because its the "prem"

But what does Dortmund beating a Spanish side and Munich beating Lille a french team have anything to do with the premier league

If you can't see the point being illustrated to you Richard then it's not worth explaining.

How abou this point you said that Germany have 3 teams going through to the knockout round.

Arsenal and Chelsea are 2nd and UTD are top surely there going through to the knockout round.

Infact the gap between Schalke (1) and Arsenal (2) is smaller than Arsenal (2) and olympiakos (3)

Infact a Real win against Dortmund then whatever really happens in the Ajax City game leaves Dortmund fearing about not qualifying.
