dempsey was their number 1 target mate, they probably thought they had the deal in the bag all summer because dempsey only wanted to sign for us.
they were probably smug as f**k this morning when fulham agreed terms with villa only for dempsey to kybosh the deal stating he only wanted to go to anfield, they probably thought they`d stroll up at 8 o clock tonight, put in a bid and fulham would have no other option but to sell to us.
what they didnt count on was fulham`s resolve not to deal with us and spurs coming in with a late bid, we still might have signed him if dempsey would have stuck to his guns and said he only wanted to sign for us but fulham obviously bluffed him saying `you either sign for spurs or rot in the reserves, we aint dealing with liverpool no matter what`

And f**k this Dempsey s**t if the money is there we should have gone out and bought another 20million dollar striker (not a one season wonder attacking mid).

You have to understand we have a lot of players on massive wages, and that needed trimming. As far as that goes, we have done a brilliant job getting rid of the deadwood. Charlie Adam, Alberto Aquilani, Dirk Kuyt, Carroll out on loan (which I agree with many others as a bad move, we should have kept him).

We have also signed Borini, Allen, Sahin, Ossaidi to boost the squad. so I think its fair to say, FSG havent sat back and done nothing to help. In fact they have done very well for me. It never helps on transfer deadline day that other clubs are busy signing new players and we are not involved, but in fairness, our business was done earlier and I wont lose sleep seeing as we havent signed an average player in Dempsey.

If our biz was done, then why was the manager taking about needing help just a few days ago?

We have a squad of 20 players, including 7 defenders and 2 out and out strikers.

The demands of the EPL of today requires FSG to do more, if they share the same ambitions as the fans.

If they are not up to it they should so declare and focus on baseball only!
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

But relying on 20 year olds is bull**** and will get you nowhere. I despise that tactics when you becomelike Arsenal and only focus on resale value and all that *****
instead of what they bring right NOW. A footballer raraly reaches his peak until after 25 which is when(if we have any real ambition) you should get them.
If you pick them up sooner you become like Arsenal. never win anything, cause as soon as they are close to peaking they are sold and round and round we go :(

It wasn’t FSG who let Carroll leave on loan without doing a deal to replace him at the same time. That fell somewhere between Rodgers and Ayre. All we had to do is keep Carroll and this would have been quite a good window.

I agree Penguins, but we do have experience as well as the players we have signed. I just get the impression that if we signed Dempsey, all would be ok. I think everythings ok as it is. Signing Dempsey would be another option, but he has nothing in his locker to suggest he would make us a better team.

Clint Dempsey is more than a one season wonder. He's been producing the goods for a few years now. I dare say he will be fired up when he plays against us and will no doubt score, while we will have loads of chances, but fail to convert (same old story). I can see it right here in my crystal ball.  :lookaround

Fuming with these guys I tell you that.

If they have a valid reason why we have suffered such a catastrophic transfer window I want to hear it tomorrow
from the horses mouth. Its important they feed back on whats gone on today.

I understand they took a hit under Dagger but you have to keep feeding the dream or take a hike and lets not
forget who hired the previous regime.

I really do get running a tight ship and not crippling the club but unless your hearts in it I think you may as well
cash out, and the reality is these guys dont love it enough to go that extra mile we need.
