Cant see this one happening..
Benfica’s talented 25-year old attacking midfielder/winger Nolito, is rumoured to be unsettled in Portugal, following his break-through season for the club. Looking to play elsewhere, Liverpool is thought to be keen on bringing the player to Anfield on a loan deal.
In May 2012, Nolito’s agent Oscar Font told radio station TSF, “Clubs like Valencia and Liverpool are interested in him but there are still no concrete proposals,” yet at the time, Liverpool were without a manager.
However, reports emerging in Portuguese newspaper Record claim Nolito is now desperate to depart Benfica, after Real Betis apparently failed in a bid to bring him to their club. Sevilla-based Estadio Deportivo reported Benfica were only willing to agree to an initial paid loan fee (a supposed €1 million), with an included purchase option to buy him at the end of the season (a supposed €10 million), of which Betis were unable to meet. With Rodgers’ and Liverpool’s interest and better financial circumstances, these figures may be well higher if they pursue the bright midifelder.
During the pre-fixture press conference for Liverpool’s Europa qualifier against Hearts, Rodgers admitted needing time to bring in players to replace those who have recently left:
We have got a very small squad as it is. We have lost a lot of players this summer and I have not replaced them, as of yet. That is the reality of where we are.”
Nolito joined the Portuguese giants last summer from Spanish side Barcelona and managed an admirable 11 goals in 29 league appearances during his debut season for Benfica. He also had an impressive debut in the Champion’s League, scoring over both legs against Trabzonspor (2-0 & 1-1) and a third goal in their run into the quarter-finals.
Regardless of whether he departs the club on loan or not, Benfica will be happy to keep Nolito who has impressed with consistent contributions in only his first season for the club; even equalising Eusébio’s record for scoring consecutive goals in 5 official matches.
His style of attacking is aggressive. He is renowned for using his pace, dribbling abilities and low centre of gravity to tenaciously move with the ball. Along with his finishing, he will add much needed flair to Liverpool’s attacking line-up. Additionally, his La Masia education with the Barcelona B team, sees him a plausible target to fit into Rodgers’ tiki-taka system, after the club supposedly missed out on bringing Cristian Tello in a loan move.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players. We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On
