we only know of Martinez due to Dave Whelan.

I just wonder if ...or that be hope, that they have met 3 managers and are picking the best one and not just begging any of them to take the job......if they ARE begging then even i might ask for Rafa back lol it better to have a manager that dreams of the job than a manager that just takes it as our owners called him 100 time.

I agree mate and what baffles me is if the owners weren't happy it didn't just occur overnight so why didn't they have a Plan B candidate lined up? Kinda looks odd both the way its developed and the way people are backing off. Maybe its in the contract, maybe the yank managers don't get paid off to teh same extent as EPL managers and they're trying to rewrite the terms etc.. Still someone give Rafa a barry and we're back in biz.

martinez is going in for more talks tomorrow with FSG and whelan set a deadline of thursday for him to make his mind up so i cant see events moving that quick that there would be anything to report..
we may get an unofficial update from whelan later on in the day, about 10 seconds after he puts the phone down on martinez

Maybe just maybe there wasn't even a press conference arranged for today and it was all the makings of another rumour that consistently seems to suck people on this forum in.

Come on guys - no one knows what is going on and they are doing it all behind closed doors and that is ***** the media off because they know nothing

there was a german football journalist being interviewed this morning on talksport and he was talking about various subjects like the german euro squad being whittled down to 23 from 27 and the german second string being beaten by switzerland etc and they asked him about the rumours of klopp coming here, he just basically said he`s heard absolutely nothing about this in germany and he would be absolutely amazed if a deal happened without any german journo knowing about it.
it looks pretty much like it`s martinez, if there are going to be any late shocks its going to be rodgers, talk about hobsons choice.

And the joke continues to run.

While Arsenal are signing new forwards, and chelsea and buying up wingers we are still rudderless in everyway.

Still aquaman and Cole are back from loan............... :help

i dont think we were ever serious about getting a big name, i think they wanted someone young, up and coming and most importantly someone likely to tow the party line.
they want a management team to make the decisions as opposed to one man and lets face it any big time manager isnt going to have that, say what you want about ferguson but could you imagine him sitting in a brainstorming session with a load of DoF`s and suits, he`d tell them all to get to f**k
i am just completely underwhelmed by the whole thing, everything about the club is just so uninspiring, arsenal sign podolski to pair up with van persie, chelsea sign hazard and marin and are being linked with falcao, hulk and guardiola and at the same time our owners are more concerned that our management structure is the same as a multinational corporation. it`s more a case of david brent than bill shankly, welcome to football corporate style.

It's kinda like the NBA team organization. You have the Head Coach and Coaches. And then you have the executive to handle all the transfers...

Brenden Rogers name being banded about a lot this morning. Bookie  odds shortening, whispers of those "in the know" on twitter. Like all the rest, probably BS, but another twist all the same!

agreed, I'm actually worried that we may not get him due to the perceived lack of transfer control. The first thing he would/should do is bring Moses with him.

If that turns out to be the case then I'd have to go Martinez as my first choice.

Rodgers and Swansea finishing higher up than Wigan doesn't outweigh the fact that Martinez put most of the foundations in place that Swansea are reaping the benefits of now.

Rumors in the press Martinez turned down the job, LFC going for Brendan Rogers.

Rogers is to see the chairman today regarding transfers/future (as reported on BBC)

Just rumors about Martinez though, but if it's true I might shoot myself
