I'll say this for 'Arry, he'll get a few decent players in, by hook or by crook  :)

oh yeah, negative rafa!
that season we finished second we scored more goals than any other team in the league including united who had ronaldo, tevez and rooney up front.
he`s also amassed our 2 best ever points totals in the prem era (86 and 82 points), the year houllier finished 2nd we amassed 80 points.
this from a manager who apparently didnt `care` about the league.
how can you use the word `suffered`? the lowest we ever finished under rafa was 6th, that incidently was our best finish in recent years, and as you well know there were valid reasons why the team tailed off at the end of his reign like the small matter of the club going to the f**king wall!
incase you`ve forgotten benitez took us to 2 champions league finals in 3 years and another semi final, he took us to the league cup final, the f.a cup final and the world club championship final in 6 years. his final season was the only one where we failed to qualify for the CL.
and those workhorses you mention? i seem to remember players like alonso, mascherano, lucas, gerrard, torres, agger, reina, carragher and arbeloa were the mainstays of his side, hardly a load of workhorses.
i know one thing the side we have now would get battered by them

Well i still remember what i've seen countless times under Rafa ,Boring tactical football ,a manager which thinks he was bigger then the game and that we can win without talented players just because he is on the sidelines and his worst decision was signing an injured player on the expense of the club ,arrogent and rackless decision. I want to see something else ,Rafa isn't the future his is the past. Let's move on.

what a load of waffle, a manager who thinks he`s bigger than the game? whats that supposed to mean? and so what if aquilani didnt turn out to be his best signing? no manager in the history of the game has never made a mistake in the transfer market.
generally when given money to spend he spent it well, infact some of the best players i`ve ever seen in a red shirt were brought to the club by benitez, the likes of alonso, torres, mascherano and reina in his benitez days could have easily played in our glory days.
he couldnt have been that bad if he put together one of the best midfields in the world, under benitez probably only barca had a better midfield and to be fair to rafa we even sent them packing in the CL when they were the reigning champions.
those days seem a long way off now

well he is not happy at not being given a new contract yet, lets face it he did not chase the england job and always said he must put spurs first, he paid the price for that in the end............the spurs owners run the risk of waking up with a horses head in their bed lol

when you consider the state the club was in when he took over (owners skint and on the verge of selling the club, 2 stars players thought the club was a sinking ship and wanted out (owen did leave), style of footy was awful and a running joke throughout the league (HOOF), squad full of over priced flops with little or no re-sale value (biscan, diouf, diao, sinama-pongolle, le tallec, cheyrou, traore etc), team so devoid of confidence it hadnt overturned a 1 goal defecit in 2 years etc)
when you consider that`s what he inherited, and when you look at the wealth and power the likes of united (who were bragging that they were the biggest club in the world at the time, the first `billion pound club` as they used to say) chelsea (abramovitch was spending money like it was going out of fashion back then) and arsenal (they built a new stadium with their CL cash) who he had to compete with that record of his is almost miraculous.
what a manager.

Didier Deschamps has cooled talk of him potentially taking the reins at Liverpool.

The former Chelsea midfielder faces an uphill task reviving Marseille's fortunes after they finished 10th in Ligue 1 this season, two years after securing a league and cup double.

Deschamps was first linked with the Anfield hot seat in 2010, following Rafael Benitez's departure and has become a fresh name in the frame to replace the sacked Kenny Dalglish.

But the 43-year-old believes that his future remains at the Stade Velodrome.

He said: "It is expected that I will be there [Marseille] next season.

"When it goes badly, there is need to recharge.

"I will leave on vacation but it is expected that I be there [Marseille] for July 2."

Maybe they're turning us down because they think Rafa deserves the chance.

At this rate, he'll be the only one left who'd jump at the chance.

Ideally we need someone who has excellent experience, and experience of success, at that! Not experience of keeping a team in the premier league every season.
We need someone who eats, sleeps, lives and breathes football. A man who studies the game in depth. A great tactician.
We need someone who has an affinity with Liverpool football club. A man who understands us.
Most of all we need someone who WANTS this job!!!

Rafa fits the bill nicely.

Mind you, I hope he would have learned from his mistakes. And we need a strong DOF who would keep him in check - i.e. not selling Alonso and buying a crock. Those type of decisions.
Though, I do think most of Rafa's stranger decisions in the last two years were ultimately down to working with Twit, ***** and Purslow.

"I wanted Malouda, they got me Ryan Babel".

It just has to be Benitez mate  , especially with Boas bottling it, and seemingly content to sit at home dithering in his designer slippers.
