The man is one of the most decorated managers off all time, and one that consistently brings success wherever he goes. If youre turning your nose up at Fabio Capello you really need to drop your expectations down a notch.

Would have Capello, no doubt. He has the kinda mentality and take-no-sh*t attitude that we need.

it wasnt terrible, the footy under houllier was terrible but not under rafa.
granted rafa`s teams didnt play like arsenal did at the time but to be fair when you havent got the resources of other clubs you have to nullify their superiority with tactics, thats why tactics were invented, so weaker teams could compete with stronger teams.
thats why we beat chelsea in 2 CL semi finals when they had spent more money than any other club in the history of the game.
if benitez had the money to buy the dani alves`s, david villa`s and jovetic`s when he wanted them i`m sure we would have been more expansive, his valencia side played great stuff.
under rafa i thought we played better footy than everyone else bar united and arsenal, mourinho`s chelsea played glorified alehouse footy

If you mean Capello well he is too old for what FSG are stated as wanting, but I think we need an older man. I don't think we are stable enough to be taking a punt on young and inexperienced managers. There are claims that Kenny steadied the ship and that was his job done but that's the nice guy PR spin on it. The fact is Kenny got too many things wrong in FSG's eyes and so they removed him. The stableising process isn't complete yet in my eyes. I'd get Capello in, or maybe Benitez and perhaps a younger man such as AVB in as assistant/apprentice.

no way someone like AVB would come here as an assistant

I wasn't suggesting he would. My knowledge of backroom staff is poor at best, so there would be more obvious candidates to those with more knowledge. But after the way Chelski treated AVB, and with the promise of being next in line to the throne...ya never know, might be worth looking at if FSG are serious about their long term plan.

Generally older men have more experience (oooer  :eyebrow )
Therefore FSGs insistence on a younger man will mean that he will probably less experienced and have won less trophies?

i think capello is a top, top coach.
capello has won 9 league titles with 4 different teams in 2 different countries. he`s won the CL too.
he`s managed giants of europe like milan, real madrid and juventus and managed some of the biggest names in the game like zidane, van basten, gullitt, maldini, raul, ronaldo, baresi and even media darlings like beckham.
but i think he struggles to communicate in english, i`m not sure if he can get his idea`s over clearly enough.
he`d certainly command the respect of the players though.

Has he ever kept a team from being relegated?

Don't care, last thing we need is a pensioner as a manager. The man can't speak English!
