We be almost crazy to appoint AVB as manager thinking he nearly got chelskit out of champs league with a 3-1 loss at napoli and lost to WBA. his assistant di mateo took the same team and won the FA cup n champs league.
what does that tell you abt AVB?
will like capello but he is waiting for the job at chelskit, althou i think di mateo will get the job as he finally won the holly grail for roman.

could have got 9/4 at Laddies
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I'd be happy with AVB...he was my shout last summer and in think, with proper backing, could easily build a top 4 team

He's my choice after rafa . Needs proper backing like  kewwell said , also needs patience and time. I dont know if he'll get all of them if i'm honest.

The board are implying that the next manager will be part of a (yet another) five year plan.

The scales seem to be tipping toward AVB if any of the rumours and betting is a guide.

I wouldnt worry about him being fired from Chelsea, they fired Mourhino and hes done
alright since.

After the Champs League result last night he will also be very driven and no doubt work
every hour God sends to prove himself in this league with no stone left unturned.

I imagine he will be very anti Chelsea now so thats common ground with our fans and a
decent ice breaker anyway

I have a feeling AvB is a one season wonder and that one season was with a Porto team that always wins in Portugal

He spent 82 mil at Chelsea and took them from 2nd until 5th

I don;t think FSG would go for Capello, he's no doubt a great manager but they will be looking for a long term plan, I'm unsure about Rafa coming back, yes he loves the club but his style of football was so boring to watch, AVB is a good manager but the fact he struggled in England makes me dubious, but like some have mentioned it can't be easy having Lampard, Terry and Abramovich making decisions and poking their nose in.  :no

Way the management game is these days you would be hard pressed to find a
manager with a perfect record or an unblemished CV.

Guardiolas safe but only had the one job!

Oh and Di Matteo wasnt good enough for West Brom yet lifted the Champs
League trophy last night.

Point is they are ALL a gamble and you just hope they have their best
moments with you.

thats true that, picking managers, like picking players, isnt an exact science.
they are human beings not robots.
they are affected by different working environments, living conditions, different countries etc
sometimes a manager who hasnt had much success can go to a club and he just clicks with the players and builds up a rapport with the fanbase.
obviously it`s not luck, top managers tend to be successful in more than one club but situations like the di matteo one can happen.
AVB is probably a better technical coach but di matteo just had that rapport with the players, sacked by west brom one minute and a CL winner the next....as jimmy greaves often said, it`s a funny old game saint.

FWIW- AVB was a junior member of mourinhos support staff at chelsea, basically charged with fetching videos and running errands whilst learning as much as possible from an bloody excellent manager. AVB returned to Chelsea and dropped Lampard and Cole and didnt pick Torres, the senior squad members turned on the guy that they associated with running  errands for jose.

Didn't you say a few weeks ago that Klopp was now your choice? As he's ruled himself out you've now gone back to AVB? Who will you go with if AVB says no to Liverpool?

Out of Nowhere in the Market comes Fran de Boer 5/2 2nd fav with Sky Bet... wtf???

Ajax are the Celtic (Rangers fooked now) of the Dutch League. Feck all competition to challenge there, so his last 2 titles dont count for much for me. Big Gamble imo..
