Rafa should never come4 back to this club, he had achance to build a good prem team but insted spent all the time building up a team for the CL...oh and to build up his own profile.

all this stuff in the media "a freiend of Rafa" turned out to be Rafa himself, he spoke to the media more than any other manager and used spin to get his own needs mett with contracts to give himself more money and more power at the club , so much so the club found it very hard to sack him.

Rafa back.......no thanks.

benitez was up against teams that would p1$$ the league now, look at united, they had the likes of ronaldo, rooney and tevez, arsenal had the likes of henry, fabregas and viera, chelsea just bought everyone.......despite all that he built a great side himself.

I'm 99% sure it won't be Rafa. FSG will look for someone new. Not sure what they'll do when that young upcoming manager fails to get us into the top four next year, but I think this always their intention - Roy's Liverpool were just so bad that they had to do something, forcing their hand to bring in someone they expected to only lead the club to the end of the year.

I honestly think the next guy will get more patience, but the owners will want to see some immediate improvement in our league position... Something I believe would've happened under Dalglish next year regardless.

mate Rafa still spent £229m, dont matter what he got back, he still had the money to buy a better team than he did. he filled the team with loads of none british players and the youth set up with them.

I think managers like Adkins, Rodgers, Lambert and Martinez need to gain more experience by moveing on to jobs like Villa, Everton, Newcastle level jobs before going to a top team, but i think one of them should make a top manager one day.

By that criteria...he's skipping our level of managers out.....two of the three mentioned teams finished above us.

I know i might be playing devils advocate but at present we are a club of that stature, so why should our history guarantee us a better manager? Managers are like players, they want to compete in the best competitions possible, and when you're not in the likes of the CL, you will struggle to attract the names you want.

I hope above all that I am wrong, but I only believe that I am being realistic....

Of course he would, it seems no other club will give him a job.

I think he proved with Inter that whatever talent he had as a manager at Liverpool, he ain't got it anymore!

No.

you mean the whole 3 months he got or whatever it was?

Well what took Inter 3 months to work out took us 6 years. After 2006 we did not win anything with the best team that Benitez could assemble and that team was miles better than our current one.

he got to 2 champions league finals in 3 years mate, chelsea had, according to the press anyway, the best manager ever and an open chequebook but they couldnt do that.
domestically in england rafa was up against the most powerful clubs in the world at the time, man united liked to brag around that time that they were the first billion pound club and all that malarky and every year 2 or 3 english clubs got to the semi`s of the CL
do you expect him to compete with that type of power without spending anything?
you dont ask for much do you?

Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is also not thought to be in the running. The Americans are known to have been impressed by Wigan manager Roberto Martinez but no talks have taken place

R.Martinez's winning % rate in his managerial career is 38%. You tell me, is that rate good enough to manage a big club like ours? I hope FSG are not making the same Hodgson like decision all over again. It's funny that club owners and directors sometimes cannot make decisions better than an 8 year old.

people really really have short memory,
"if we do not learn from history, we are going to repeat them all over again".

why do we sack Rafa in the first place? why do Inter sack Rafa the very 6 mths later?

Nonsense. Kenny brought in those players. He is responsible for them being here and stinking the place out.

Not one of the British signings excited me (the Carroll one as ive metioned actually depressed me on the day). These weren't hotly anticipated signings.

Whilst i have stated that Kenny being sacked was harsh and premature as i would have given him util Christmas and then assess things, i can however understand the owners standpoint in that they have given him 110 million and seen it squandered... so how then could they seriously trust him to spend wisely with another massive outlay. I certainly wouldnt. I stated that i would like to hear Kenny's plans before giving my complete backing to him.. and that is what the owners summoned him to Boston for... and clearly they didnt like what they heard.

Don't understand why in retrospect Kenny made the statement all the buys were his decision and not Comolli's, he hung himself.

Basically he got the same medecine as Comolli.

Too much politics and misunderstandings of what happened first time round as demonstrated in Octsky's post.
