well you are just being unrealistic, what did you expect him to do?
take over houlliers hoof merchants with no money and then dominate teams like united and arsenal who`d been in the CL for years collecting big money when only 2 teams qualified and then chelsea who were spending money like it was going out of fashion?
before rafa arrived in europe we used to scrape past the auxerre`s and get taken the cleaners by the psg`s
anyone having a go at what rafa did at this club just hasnt got a clue about footy.

I think youre the t-it for making an assumption. Would you have really assumed back then Arsenal would have not commanded the same respect for Arsene Wenger in 1996 having joined from the Japanese league, as Chelsea hadnt for Boas? The problem is we wont get a "proven winner" in this climate. Its also key that the owners have long admired a young manager who can form something of a foundation, miracle and dynasty all rolled in one. AVB potentially fits the bill. Hes 35

Rafa has had his time. He made some major errors in the last 12-24 months of his reign and its unlikely he will be given another chance again. I personally hope someone like Guardiola (if miracles can occur) ever considers an option to join us in a potentially massive project that could pay dividends for its owners. TIme can only tell.

the truth is AVB`s first stint in a big league has ended in faliure, whats worse an average manager inherited the same group of players that looked no hopers under AVB and took them to the european cup final.
getting AVB would be a risk imo, he needs to prove himself in a big league, benitez before he came here won 2 spanish titles and the uefa cup with valencia, he had proven himself in a big league and if he had any sort of backing from H&G he would have beaten united and chelsea like he beat madrid and barca in spain.

not my idol mate, i thought he needed to go when he did because the club was in meltdown with the internal arguments and the manager going was the easiest way to stop it all.
but i also appreciate the incredible job he did, i liked roy evans and i liked the way his teams played footy but we used to get battered by mid table french sides in the uefa cup under him, benitez took us to a level that we hadnt been for 20 years and a level i doubted i`d ever see again.

Collymore, McDermot, even the most dumbest person in the world can see we need a big name to transform this club. Its a massive club and we need an even bigger name to get us back to the top. We cant gamble on past managers and managers from abroad with little experience of the english game, therefore it can only be one man!

for a start he`s not going to leave madrid for a team thats 8th in the league plus he likes to join teams with all the money.
plus he would not go down well with the core support at the game, he`s not a popular figure at anfield because of the things he has said in the past

We have the lot, history, money, huge club, massive challenge, everything a top manager would want. As long as it aint martinez, villas or another of these up and coming managers then i will be happy.

I think we need someone who can get the players we already have to start playing better football. I would try and get Martin O'Neil. Benitez is going to want another 100m to make it his team. I think O'Neil could get alot of value out of the new English element of the team.

I'd rather we didn't have to think about employing a new manager because I don't agree with Kenny's sacking.

But since it's a reality, Brendan Rodgers would be top of my list, with Paul Lambert a close second.

Mourinho? I'd find that a tough one to swallow. Martinez? No, just no. Benitez? Love the guy but he had his chance.

his `i`m the special one` type of arrogance wouldnt go down well here mate either, that type of stuff might strike a chord down south but it would go down like a lead balloon in a city like liverpool. he wont be liverpool manager.

Out of the names i have seen linked i would love to see Jose or Pep. i however cannot see either of them changing their minds and coming to LFC. I would be reluctant to have Raffa back and would hate to see Fabio.

This decision is MASSIVE and the owners must send out a statement with a Marquee manager. my top 3 in order are 1) Pep 2) Jose 3) Rijkaard
