Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao would be my pick.. and hopefully take one or two players with him.

Great motivator, great tactician, great football.

benitez has won the spanish title twice, the uefa cup, the champions league, the f.a cup, the world club championship and the italian cup.
rafael benitez was a miracle worker, by rights we didnt have the money to compete with the chelsea`s, uniteds, barcelona`s and real madrids but rafa had us trading blows with those clubs toe to toe, every f**ker in europe dreaded drawing liverpool in the CL draw, mourinho had the riches of solomon backing him but twice rafa sent him packing in CL semi finals.
rafa didnt want billions to compete with the other big sides, he didnt even need parity, if they had more money that wasnt a problem, but to expect him to compete with hicks and gillette sending us backwards was a bridge too far for even him.
under rafa we beat barcelona, real madrid, inter milan, ac milan, juventus, man united, chelsea (when they were like man city)......infact it`s easier to list who we didnt beat. get him back.

mate, FSG listened to us and got Kenny back, look what happened, will they listen to us again? no, they will go for someone younger and their choice

Behave Belfast Bertie.... Bielsa is a top top manager who, with funds that we provide, would have us top 4 and challenging.

We want someone with respect around the world, who will be able to convince the best players in the world that this is where they want to play.

Martinez/rodgers/Lambert are not those somebodies

It would great to see what Rafa could do with a board that actually backed him 100%.

However I cant see FSG going back to a fan favourite again, though Benitez is still fresher in the mind than Kenny was when he got the job.

Come on.....it deffo won't be martinez. Jesus..

FSG is not that duff. They will hire a capable manager (they shouldn't have got rid of KK..IMO) with the pedigree to manage this club.

Lambert in time could be a great manager... but its too much of a gamble to pin our hopes on him next.

Pedigree is the order of the day... pedigree.

Bielsa, Pep, Rafa, Pellegrini, Hiddink... those five would be on my radar (Pep no chance...but God loves a trier). The owners sacking a man after only 1 season shows a ruthless streak for success. Lets hope they show a similar streak and go for one of the best.

Firstly why would Klopp come to a team which finished 8th and won a mickey mouse cup from a team like Dortmund?
Secondly Shankly came when the club was on its knees in the second division. He built us up with his bare hands. We want instant success
Do I need to go on?
???

You misread my point Thommo, what I meant was that Klopp was a virtual unknown when he took over at Dortmund, a MASSIVE club especially in Germany and he has taken them to two league titles in a row and just trounced Champions League finalists Bayern Munich 5-2 in the cup final.

It takes more than experience is all Im saying, some men are just destined for greatness, but it often takes a large slice of luck and an opportunity for them to get there.

That's a no no. Don't think Matinez would be the right choice for Liverpool FC. Rafa may work...as long as he doesn't do that long list of things against Mwanck Utd again..... :)
