It would appear that his display when he came off the bench in the Cup final has lifted the weight off his shoulders as he looks much more content. Moving much better also.

Its the best i've seen him by a mile, and he does look a real handful. Terrorized their backline. Keeps doing that humble pie will be gladly eaten.

The main reservation i have (and have always had) is does he compliment Suarez? Was there much interplay between the two? Suarez is a keep it on the floor player, and likes to link up with fast attacking play.. one twos, interplay..the manner inwhich he does with similar type players with Uruguay.

The aerial stuff is a good alternative.. especially when he plays like that. He has to maintain this and kick on now.

We need to sign a clinical #9 to finish off moves in tight games.... and with Suarez and Carroll (maintaining the form he showed tonight) that would see us well equipped upfront.

thats some turnaround of opinion in only a few months.
carroll was fantastic with the ball at his feet last night while also showing good control and his distribution was excellent proving that he can play on the ground.even last night after the game when he was recieving his motm award both him and henderson were interviewed and hendo said he was happy with his own contributions this year andy sucked it up and said it was difficult and he had a lot to deal with but he's beginning to cope with the pressure.he has the desire to succeed here and that is an important trait for any player who wears our shirt.
suarez is a tricky one and no matter who he gets paired with he will always have an element of selfishness to his game.he creates stuff for himself from nothing but too often goes it alone and gets caught in two minds as to whether he will pass or shoot.finding another striker to compliment him might not be as easy as people think.
carroll has matured over the season and we will see a completely different beast next campaign who will eat up defences and score goals.
i already can't wait

the last two games he has been immense. absolutely unplayable. john terry must be having nightmares about him.

he's also put to bed this myth that we have to play long and direct because he's on the pitch. some of his link up play has been excellent.

During his early days with us I thought he had the movement and intelligence of a sack of spuds, and up until quite recently he was still more than capable of giving a performance that a lump would be proud of, however, it has to be admitted by doubters such as me that over time he been gradually getting better and better, even so, I don't know exactly what's gone on with him but his transformation during his last two appearances have been as surprising as they've been spectacular, suddenly he's looked every inch the kind of player many hoped he would be when we signed him.

It's a pity he's hit such form just as the season comes to a close (  ). Can only now look forward and hope to see the big fella carry it over into next season.
A slice of humble pie will be well worth the eating if he continues to terrorise defenders like he did last night.

he seems to have lost some weight to me. he looks a lot leaner, meaner and more hungry. long may it continue. he's actually played very well for the last couple of months, but he's gone up to an entirely new level in the last two games.

andy carroll, i know it's early but... :D

Was just thinking the same thing, Woof, about hitting form as the season wraps up.  Bad timing because this lad has the bit between his teeth now and finally looks like he believes he belongs in a Liverpool shirt.  I hope he gets selected for England and carries this form over to Poland/Ukraine.  He's clearly got the physical presence and skills to be a beast of a player.  He's just lacked the belief until recently.  A good end of season and especially some excellent FA Cup performances will have gone some way to instilling that belief.  A strong showing with England will take it to another level and stand him in good stead for next season.

A really hope he goes to the Euros.

His season has started late. Through can pretty much write off the first half of the season as he clearly wasn't fit and still settling in. Being on the bench a lot means he hardly broke a sweat in the middle of the season.

Going to the euros would, in my opinion, give him an opportunity to continue his good form. Allowing us to benefit from a sharp and motivated forward at the start of next season. The last thing I want is to lose the momentum he clearly is having now.

Agreed. The euro's would give him vital experience, and I could see him taking it by storm too. With him being young, he won't need to take any sort of break over summer. Hopefully next season we will welcome him back as a star who made his mark on the euro's and is hungry to continue on into next season.

He's a lot to learn yet, but things are certainly looking promising. Hopefully we will now reap the rewards of standing by the big lad when all others were on his back.  :lookaround

99 times out of 100 i dont want liverpool players playing for england (i can remember john barnes being out for about 10 months after picking up an injury playing for england) but i think carroll being included in the squad for the euro`s would actually be a good thing for liverpool.
i think after the tough times he has been through playing, training and mixing with the big names like gerrard, rooney, cole, ferdinand or whoever will help cement in his own mind that he is a big time player and belongs at the top level.
dont forget he only turned 23 in january so he is still a young player and his confidence must have taken a battering over the past 12 months, because of his price tag he almost became a national figure of ridicule and all that is a lot to deal with when you are 22 / 23. the lad has had albatrosses, millstones the f##king lot hung around his neck.
to be fair to him he has shown tremendous mental strength to battle back and at the moment he looks almost unplayable, he is wreaking havoc on defenders known for their toughness, ariel ability and physicality and yet he is still 5 years away from his target man peak.
even if he doesnt play any games in poland or the ukraine just mixing in that company will reinforce subconciously in him the idea that he`s a big time, big name player and what liverpool fc want over the next few seasons is andy carroll going onto the pitch not worrying about if he can cut it in the premier league but thinking `this is my stage, i not only belong at this level i`m a f##king wrecking ball who is going to dominate games at this level`
i think being picked for the national side will help him get that mindset.

Concur with the sentiment about him being chosen for the Euros. Normally i wouldn't give a stuff about the national team, however, it would only add to his confidence, and would be a fitting reward for his sudden upturn in performance.

Thompson... the term fickle means changing ones views frequently... flip flop... win one week "yeah we're gonna win the league".. lose next week "we are garbage".

I've been consistent with my assessment on Carroll. He was dreadful for a year, which i related, improved a tad from January, and suddenly in his last two games he has looked a different player. Calling a spade a spade is not being fickle. The lad was a donkey in a red jersey for over a year... every comment i have stated reflected his performance. The only humble pie i will be eating is for not thinking he could one day become a quality player, not for anything i have previously stated. Such is the turnaround in his performance that only two weeks ago, in a BBC discussion, he was not chosen among the squad to go to the Euros. Five days ago he was left out of the team for the FA Cup final, with Jay Spearing picked in preference. We are talking about a sudden transformation here.

its not such a dramatic transformation really, despite the fact that he has really performed excellently in his last two appearances. its been fairly obvious to most people that over the last 3 or 4 weeks he has begun to show signs of the desire and form that we'd been hoping to see. most people except you, that is.

fickle
[fik-uhl]
fick·le

adjective
1.
likely to change, especially due to caprice, irresolution, or instability; casually changeable: fickle weather.
2.
not constant or loyal in affections: a fickle lover.

Whilst i'm pleased to see you can hold your hands up and eat humble pie, I feel you're just taking an easy route out. If you read back on your posts, your posts on Andy have always been super critical to the point of unfairness and outright b*tchiness. Just as Andy had to work real hard to prove himself to you, I suspect you're gonna have to work equally hard before people here take your opinions on Andy seriously.

Andy hasn't "suddenly transformed". We paid £35million for the qualities and potential that you were always blind to until his spell of good form. This suggests that you never actually knew what Carroll was about prior to recent weeks, whilst most of the rest of us did. That in turn suggests that you gathered your opinions on him from elsewhere and stuck tightly to them until you realised "Hey, this guy can play!", at which point you've bailed out of your "firm" stance with your humble pie. I ain't b*tching at ya, but certainly feel you should earn your right to enjoy Andy Carroll, the Liverpool Number 9.
