It has put the match into perspective. I send my deepest sympathies to his family. I hope the b.astards that did this horrific crime rot in hell. RIP Alex YNWA

MURDER INVESTIGATION: Police arrest four after man is stabbed to death in Camden Town

Published: 26 February, 2012

by TOM FOOT

MURDER squad detectives have made four arrests after a man was stabbed to death in Camden Town in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Early reports had linked the Inverness Street attack with Liverpool football fans who were in London last night ahead of today's Carling Cup Final at Wembley. Met Police said they did not believe the incident was "football related" but confirmed the 26-year-old knife victim was from Merseyside.

Witnesses said people in Inverness Street at the time of the attack were not wearing football colours but large crowds of supporters had been drinking and chanting there earlier in the evening.

Accountant Chad Williams, who lives in Inverness Street, said: "I looked out the window when I heard screaming. One guy was on the floor outside Bar Uno.

"There was chaos out there for the next five minutes. The emergency services were there – they were with the guy for 45 minutes.

"There was a guy, a young guy with blonde hair, he went to help him. He performed CPR. He was pumping at his chest. There was an awful lot of blood. It was all over him, too.

"The emergency services arrived and did everything you would want of them."

There was an eerie hush in Camden Town today as excited tourists coming out of the tube station were confronted by the scene.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place today.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene and that the next of kin have been informed. The Homicide and Serious Crime Command unit is investigating. Any witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 020 8358 0200 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Weekend trip to London ends in pub knife horror as man is stabbed to death following petty row

By Nick Fagge and Rebecca Camber

A teenage girl told of her horror yesterday on seeing a man bleed to death after being knifed in the throat in a bar brawl in front of dozens of revellers.

The 26-year-old man from Liverpool had been enjoying a weekend away in London with his brother and friends when a petty row with a group of strangers led to a fight breaking out in a packed bar in Camden, North London.

He was stabbed in the chest and throat, while his brother was punched in the face as he fought to protect him.

The victim staggered outside clutching his chest before collapsing on the ground.

Paramedics fought to save him but he died at the scene.

Yesterday a 19-year-old girl, who had earlier been dancing with one of the victim’s friends, told of her shock after the attack in Bar Uno, Camden just before midnight on Saturday night.

She said: ‘I saw him come out of the bar holding his chest. He was covered in blood and then he fell to the floor and hit his head on the ground.

‘The police and the ambulance came and they tried to bring him back to life but he died there. I can’t believe he is dead.

‘They were all very nice blokes, all nicely dressed and polite, not the kind of guys to start a fight.

‘They said they were from Liverpool and had come down to London for the weekend. There were about ten of them.

‘I was in Bar Uno bar with my friend and I started dancing with one of the guys.

‘He said they were not from around here and wanted to know where to go.

‘We decided to move on to another bar and I was waiting outside with this guy I just met. It was just before midnight.
Investigation: A spokesman for Scotland Yard said four men aged 17, 23, 25 and 28 are being questioned in connection with the incident on Inverness Street (pictured)

‘Then one guy comes out with blood all over his mouth.

‘And then the second guy comes out. He was holding his chest. He took a couple of steps and then fell to the floor and there was a heavy bang as he hit his head.

‘The paramedics surrounded him but they could not resuscitate him.

‘I was really shocked. His friends were crying.’

Last night police were questioning four men aged between 17 and 28.

Police do not believe the murder was sparked by football-related violence, although the victim was not known to his attackers.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: ‘A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Camden.

‘On Saturday officers were called shortly before midnight to a man stabbed in Bar Uno on Inverness Street.

‘Police and London Ambulance Service attended and found a 26-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

‘Four men aged 23, 25, 17 and 28 were arrested at the scene in connection with the incident. All are from the London area.

‘Whilst officers retain an open mind as regards a motive, it is not believed to be football related.’

I think lfctv should mention it. And on Saturday the players wear black armbands, it should not be ignored. I wonder if the club are aware of this

lots do in London, sadly.  I know Camden well (use to live there) and most of the bars on Inverness st are rough places.

Absolutely horrific, how can people be so senseless?

I agree the club should highlight the problem and take the moral highground to keep violence out of sport.

I await the FA statement.  Errr......

don't see why the FA need to get involved Reg, it was a bar fight that turned nasty. Not football related.
