Liverpool said to be in talks with Ghana full-back

Ghana full-back Samuel Inkoom has claimed Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign him in the January transfer window.

The club are reported to be in negotiations with the 22-year-old who is contracted to Ukrainian side Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

The right-back area has been a problem for the Reds this season, with Glen Johnson suffering from a hamstring injury.

Centre-back Martin Skrtel has been used as a temporary right-back, while young defender Martin Kelly has also deputised in the position.
Locked in talks

Inkoom told Ghana radio station Top Radio: "My agent is still locked in talks with my club and a scout of Liverpool and a deal could be concluded very soon.

"Nothing has been decided yet on whether I will join Liverpool on loan or move permanently.

"Liverpool is one of the biggest names in football and so if everything goes well and the Lord allows it, everyone will see where I am going and hopefully, it will be Liverpool, which will be a big step for me."

Inkoom began his career at Ghanaian side Sekondi Hasaacas before playing for Asante Kotoko and Basle.

He has won 25 caps for his country and was part of the squad that reached the World Cup quarter-finals in South Africa in 2010.

Not exactly the type of player that is a priority, but not a bad move either.

He and Suarez will get along well when the discussion of famous handballs is brought up :laugh:

I think a lot of the blame can be laid at the price tag at which he came with. Had he signed for 10-12Mil people wouldn't be so quick to jump on his performances. If he continues the same way till the end of the season then the sensible thing to do would be to sell him. But I doubt Newcastle will part with 25Mil much less 20Mil even. I could see someone like Spurs offering a fair load though. If they sell Modric in the summer they may well be open to a player + cash deal.

I know it sounds crazy but hear me out.

1) He isn't going to manage any top side in England down to his affection for us
2) He started in Spain with a lower league side, getting them promoted ect.
3) He is an obsessive/perfectionist so I could see him starting from scratch in England. He is probably still determined to win the league with us some day so wants to make sure he is better armed next time.

And it's not like he has anything to prove.

Where did you hear that last one Aussie Style? Id love that to happen, although can't see City selling to us unless we pay 15mil or so maybe more. I don't follow La Liga much these days but Di Maria really? I thought he was doing alright at Madrid.
