Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I wouldn't have Torres back as a ball boy, let along a player.

He's a spoilt brat who blames EVERYONE ELSE bar himself for his lack of form. Even the Chavs are sick of him spitting the dummy out every 5 mins, so let them sort him out.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him go on loan to Italy or France in Jan.

Liverpool have entered the race to sign Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen.

Vertonghen, 24, was a summer target for Arsenal while Inter Milan have also been tracking his progress.

The Belgian defender has been one of the star performers for Ajax and was watched by a number of scouts during the Champions League game against Lyon last week.

Reports in Holland suggest that Liverpool are now battling Inter Milan to clinch his signature when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is hoping to strengthen his backline and give his side every chance of finishing in the top four this season.

Ajax are determined to keep Vertonghen at the club and will be hoping a lengthy run in the Champions League will persuade him to stay with the Dutch giants.

Malaga to battle Liverpool and Man City for Real Madrid outcast

Monday, September 19

Big spending Malaga are lining up a New Year swoop for Manchester City and Liverpool target Raul Albiol.

The Spain international, who joined Real Madrid for £13m from Valencia in 2009, has fallen out of favour at the Bernabeu and is yet to feature this season.

The 26-year-old is desperate to make Vicente Del Bosque’s squad for next summer’s European Championship finals in Poland and Ukraine and reports in Spain have revealed he is ready to leave the club in January to secure first-team football.

City and Liverpool have both shown an interest in Albiol in the past, while it was also reported that Arsenal considered a bid for him before eventually signing Per Mertesacker in the summer.

But it is Real’s La Liga rivals Malaga who are now favourites to complete a January deal.

The Spanish club were bought by a member of the Qatari royal family in 2010 and have brought in a string of high-profile players over the past 12 months, including Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Joaquin and Santi Cazorla.

And now Malaga manager Manuel Pellegrini, who made Albiol one of his first signings as Madrid boss two years ago, is hoping to link up with the Spain international once again.

A top team needs at least 2 or 3 quality CBs. Right now I'd say we have probably 2 in Agger and potentially Coates but Agger is too injury prone. Hope we buy 1 or 2 more in the Jan window.

Reckon Torres might end up going there at some point too.

I'll be shocked if Torres is playing in the Premier League next season. Wouldn't be surprised to see him bugger off at Christmas back to Spain.

2 goals in the last 2 games.  Sure he's missed some sitters and was sent off, but if he's scoring a goal a game he'll be going nowhere.  Looks to be getting a bit of confidence back to be honest.  Hope he goes back to sucking, but I'm starting to think he may be turning things around.

If last night's perfomance was anything to go by then that only adds weight to your argument that he is starting to look sharp and goals will come. Not for the next few weeks though as he is suspended!

why are we so obsessed with Torres that not only do we talk about Torres in the Torres thread, but now we also talk about Torres in the Rumour thread?  :glare:

Reports that Shelvey is finally going on loan to Blackpool. Been on and off this but I guess the pennys dropped he wont be playing so may as well give it a crack at Bloomfield.

Was just thinking less than an hour ago while spacing off in class that we really needed to send Shelvey out on loan.
