Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

I don't want to see Meireles leave the club but I would be tempted if Sturridge was offered as a swap.

However...I honestly don't think Kenny will sell to Chelsea.

I do think that we have one more bit of business to do after the signing of Coates. A few names being mentioned on the forums and twitter and I will be keeping a close eye on things between now and midnight tomorrow!!

I don't get the logic behind this statement. Meireles is ~10million worth player ,his value will decrease as time goes by ,espcially when we would probably NOT get many minutes to play this year.

On the other hand we are getting 8mill in cash + a player which can add to the creativity domain which is lacking (other then Suarez)...Sounds like Good Biz + Good proffesional decision.

I would prefer Sturrdige to Yossi but in any case it sounds like a fair deal to me.

Unless we desperately need that 8 million (or whatever the next bid will be) to turn around and buy a quality player in one of our problem positions before the deadline closes tomorrow (and there's been no indication that we do) I simply don't see the logic in swapping a very good CM (Mereiles) for a decent one (Yossi).  Besides, I care about the football not the sell-on values. Add to that the fact that it feels like a step back to bring in a fella who did well but was never a top player for us in a position where we have plenty of other options and, overall, it feels like a poor move to me.

Prospective Liverpool signing Sebastian Coates is due to have his work permit hearing today, and his current club Nacional have flown a delegation over to help with the case. - SSN

Who do you think Raul will replace on this team? consider Gerrad returns.

despite his spell at United, I'd have him here if he can prove his fitness. Great talent and I cant understand how the likes of Tottenham, Everton and Sunderland havent snatched him up yet if he is fit.. We need that position covered anyways and for free, hes one hell of a player when injury free (which is almost never)

It's a long season with plenty of games and injuries, suspensions and dips in form to consider.  He'll play and he offers something when he does.

rumours abound that we've told the chavs that if they want Raul then they'll have to offer a LOT more cash AND sturridge

Uh huh. I see no point at all in moving Raul on, and certainly not to Chelsea. Yossi is a decent player and still has something to offer. He's not exactly fashionable though is he? He's just one of those players that no one seems to care about lol.

I could see the Chelsea managament looking at Yossi on the training pitch the day after he signed, scratching their heads.."What were we drinking last night?"

clueless .

I rate Benny (and Sturridge for that matter) but Meireles for me is one of our best players and for them would be an incredible signing. Its ridiculous us helping them (even more so than we have done so far) to become a much better side than we are and even if they offered 20mill + one of the two I'd want us to reject their bids...

We should be improving the side and not moving backwards and for me losing Meireles would be a huge step backwards at this point.

One last thing, if you think Meireles wont get many minutes this season I think you'll be in for quite the surprise when hes fit again.

You would reject a 20mil + a player and you call me clueless?  :D

Meireles is an OK player ,he is no superstar ,never was never will be ,he had some great goals last year which are not reflective of his overall Career stats and i do stand by my claim he would hardly play this year so what's your Point here??? Who do you think he would sub? Considering Gerrard is just about to return? So you would throw a perfectly good deal because Chelski might get stronger ,which i doubt.

I suspect the idea is Cole out, Miereles out (cutting down the midfield army) Yossi in for 12 months then the youngsters take over.

If so, I see the logic.

Joe Cole to lille on a one year loan

Sky Bet:
In breaking transfer news, Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole is now 1/4 to join Lille. The former Chelsea man is 4/1 to join Tottenham.
