Just read on soccernet who don't announce things until they're absolutely true (at least they're right 99% of the time) have their main headline reading that Chelsea offered and were rejected Yossi and £7 million for Meireles.

soccer net are the best sourced I've ever gone to. THey literally don't announce players signing until after the official sites of confirmed it. I have to imagine this is a real bid. I'm glad we've rejected it. Unless they're giving us more money than that and Sturridge, then they need to p!ss off.

I'm wondering if the bid has anything to do with the fact that AVB knows the Portuguese league pretty well and had seen Meireles playing before.

When does the window end tomorrow?, if N'gog does go surely we need another striker plus Cb.

Mind you even if N'gog stays we need another striker because i don't really see him coming off the bench and changing the game.

I don't get the logic behind this statement. Meireles is ~10million worth player ,his value will decrease as time goes by ,espcially when we would probably NOT get many minutes to play this year.

On the other hand we are getting 8mill in cash + a player which can add to the creativity domain which is lacking (other then Suarez)...Sounds like Good Biz + Good proffesional decision.

I would prefer Sturrdige to Yossi but in any case it sounds like a fair deal to me.

I rate Benny (and Sturridge for that matter) but Meireles for me is one of our best players and for them would be an incredible signing. Its ridiculous us helping them (even more so than we have done so far) to become a much better side than we are and even if they offered 20mill + one of the two I'd want us to reject their bids...

We should be improving the side and not moving backwards and for me losing Meireles would be a huge step backwards at this point.

One last thing, if you think Meireles wont get many minutes this season I think you'll be in for quite the surprise when hes fit again.

You would reject a 20mil + a player and you call me clueless?

Meireles is an OK player ,he is no superstar ,never was never will be ,he had some great goals last year which are not reflective of his overall Career stats and i do stand by my claim he would hardly play this year so what's your Point here??? Who do you think he would sub? Considering Gerrard is just about to return? So you would throw a perfectly good deal because Chelski might get stronger ,which i doubt.
