Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

People have very short memories. Fenway and
Kenny are doing what we have been asking for a very long time. Business behind closed doors. I for one are very happy with the way things have done since the last pair of muppets where shown the door.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Relax

:D

Every. farkin. summer.  The window opens and people get all geed up at the thought of superstars flying into Melwood every other day for medicals.  But, after a few weeks of baseless paper talk-- or the newest incarnation, bull. :censored: tweets from faux ITK types--people start spitting their dummies, demanding action and charting the velocity of the falling sky.  Where's the learning curve people?   :suspect:

what learning curve?

we never learn :(  :D

I agree.

Anyway this transfert window is not closed yet. Henderson has already signed.

And, 5 minutes ago i read that Milner(very good player) possibly signing with us.

I have total trust in Henry.

Sorry to be the guy that bursts the bubble on this thread but I disagree on some of the "blind faith" garble being sprouted left, right and center.

Trust is earnt over a period of time, it doesn't happen over-night. Especially after the nightmare we endured under those two "ar.se" clowns.

Kenny did a fantastic job with the dross we had last season, but the reality is that our squad is very average and we as a team have been average for the last few years. Legacy of twiddle-dee and twiddle-dum and a manager that made some really really costly and flawed mistakes in the transfer market. Yes Benitez had a limited budget towards the end of his tenure but the dross he bought in is still haunting us today by appearing in the liability column of our financials.

It is sad that many of you need to be reminded of who we are as a club, we are and always will be the greatest club in the world. It hurts like hell having the scum over-take us in titles and we need to fa.rki.n pull in our stupid arrogant heads and accept that we have slipped into mediocrity, which is going to really have an effect on which players we can target. I have supported this club since I was a kid and it pains me to see how we are ridiculed year in year out, "its our year", "Gerrard says we will challenge for the title" blah blah. All you have to do is go back to last season and see the lemming comments being made when Hodgson (a man that had NO right being here, NO right at all) was appointed manager. At least the sensible ones saw from day one that it was an epic blunder, one of the worst in our great history. :(

From what I have seen and heard of our new managers they do seem like competent, business saavy and intelligent people, but if our squad is not reshaped this summer we are truly lost as a football club. Our rivals will strengthen, I will repeat that for those of you that live in denial, our rivals WHICH finished well above us WILL STRENGTHEN their squads. Words are words, actions at the end of the day ultimately mean EVERYTHING. We need signings WE NEED THEM NOW, no more excuses, no more five year plans, no more financial difficulties, no more stubborn managers buying dross, our time is now John & Kenny, we have gone through and suffered enough, the phoenix can only rise by the players you pump into its lifeblood.........our club. We need quality wingers, we need quality full-backs and a center back. Gerrard is getting old, so I think Henderson was the right buy for the future but we need more of it, MUCH MUCH MORE...............................

(so far) in this transfer window maybe we better start re-evaluating our expectations as to what LFC might achieve next season.

Im with you on this mate, actions speak louder than words, so far they are winning with their wonderful PR excersizes to appease the masses, but fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

We will just have to wait and see what happens...........

We have absolutely no evidence that nothing is going on behind the scenes. I'm confident that they're gonna pull a rabbit from the hat in all of this, we just have to be patient, we have a whole month of nothing to do first. After that we can start panicking :D

This is how we've always done things right - behind the scenes without media interference. I'd rather we were told when we've signed someone, not when we're chasng someone
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

I agree Greavsie, If we have spent 18m on a potential prospect already, doesn't it go to prove that if they think the player is right the money will be there?

Chill people....

btw do players report back to melwood today?

I'm still not convinced that they are putting enough effort on getting the new stadium built. Since these sort of investors only will make sound investments we will never buy like City and the likes. To get us back at the top we need to get our revenues up so we can spend more money on players etc. Without the stadium we will not move one inch out of this swamp of mediocrity. Getting this and that player is not really my concern because long term it won't matter anyhow. We need a strong foundation.

That in itself is a little worrying. Do they not see us being able to fill a bigger Stadium etc? Is prices to high to get the investment back etc. In the future being able to buy players will about getting revenue up but that in itself doesn't give the owners profits

That is the problem. I see the new owners as astute businessmen with emphasis on busniess.

They will invest back money we make as as profit but I think very little from their own pockets.

Talk is cheap and their PR has been good but their net spend so far as owners is around 15 million.

No news on the stadium as they are still "evaluating their options"

While they seem like owners who would had been fine when Moores sold the club, they just doesn't seem like enough  at this moment in time.

The vermin really did their best to try and destroy the club, delaying the stadium and investming jack all the last couple of years.

Righnt now the club is continuing on as if the period with the vermin never really happened.

The problem is so much has happened!
City, Spurs have become real heavy hitters while the other rivals went further ahead.

Rignt now we are in major catch up mode and "business as usual" type of owners will not get us anywhere.

We have a weak squad and even our starting 11 isn't that strong anymore. So many holes to fill and I serioulsy doubt much will happen with most of them.

We will not reach the CL next season if this is the squad we start with next season.

I think people need to think back to what could of happened  last year and were we are now.

LFC could of been another Leeds without a doubt if it wasn't for the new owners and Martin Broughton.

in the 9 months they have been here they have identified the right manager and invested in some of the best upcoming players out there and seem to be getting the foundation in place for future success.

I think some people need a reality check, the likes of City and Chelsea won't be around in 10 years when the premeirship isn't fashionable and their owners have washed there hands with their toys.

NESV keep using the word 'patience' and that gives me the nod we are a long way off chucking money at the best players. I get what they are doing, I understand they inherited a mess, but what I hope they understand is that down the lines some big money will need to be pumped in if we are going to get back on top. A working business model will keep you solvent and out of the finance headlines but it wont win you this league and its when that hits home I will be interested to see if NESV stay with it or flog the club on at a profit.
