That's been said for months hasn't it? He told teammates, he told his family, he told friends...? Could be true. Tho he's gonna have to fight for a spot there while he's basically guaranteed one here.

Atletico Madrid forward Sergio Aguero has asked the Spanish club to release him from his contract.

The 22-year-old Argentine international extended his deal to 2014 in January but his buy-out clause was reduced from £52m to £40m.

"After five intense years a stage in my personal development has ended and I have to move on to a new one," said Aguero on his website.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham have been linked to Aguero.

"I said long ago that when I wanted to go, I would say so publicly," added the Atletico striker. "And the time has come.

"So I keep to my word and here I am. I find it hard to leave Atletico. It hurts and saddens me."

Aguero has scored over 100 goals for Atletico since joining from Independiente as a teenager in 2006.

40m, don't see us paying that much plus I really don't see the point in signing him because he is very similar to Suarez. I also think Suarez is a better player

I really hope we are able to attract our top targets this summer. Gonna be difficult with no Europe and finishing outside the top 5 two years in a row.

LFC is still recognised worldwide and we have the attraction of Kenny too.

As far as whos the better player, whoever pips who there wouldnt be much space between them.

Imagine having Aguero Suarez and Gerrard/Miereles behind Carroll....................commense drooling now

Actually I do feel that we need aguero after watching Carroll's performances. Winning the league is not easy obviously. If we are to win the league we need alot of quality players. We will have injuries and it's important to have quality throughout the squad to churn out results consistently. Remember the 2008 season when we were in the title hunt? We won alot more games than other seasons but still wasn't enough... Being good enough to challenge for the title is one step, but to have q squad that can win the title is a whole new level...

well now he's stated he wants to leave it puts a lot more pressure on us trying to sign him. I was kind of hoping he wouldnt say anything and we could snap him up on the quiet. Might be too public for us now, City will be eyeing him like vultures now

i think the best buy there will be scott parker short term and long term Wickham.
