Marveuax (or however you spell it) represents decent business and is worth a punt. Seems to be a genuine wide man and quite highly rated and at 24 he has resale value if things don't work out. Coming from the French league I wouldn't think his wages will be massive either.

Not sure he is the top class wide man we need and I would still think we will go after a marquee wide man signing in the summer with someone like Ashley Young.

Agreed.

We need some depth in the squad.  Because he's free, it doesn't hurt to try him out.  I can't imagine he's worse then what we've got at the moment, and like you said, French league should be cheap wages.

If we get some decent wingers, he would be a great back up or a good starter in the Europa/FA cup etc..

And like you said, if he's not good enough we could probably get the wages we've paid for him back.

But maybe he will end up being a great player, it's hard to say.

RBuxton_LFC    RT @neiljjones: #LFC have not agreed any deal to sign Sylvain Marveaux from Rennes. Doubts persist over his injury record.

hmmmm

currently injured. been out since November. 2 seasons ago he only played 5 games after picking up a serious injury.

played a total of 50 games in the last 3 years. A few of our boys will play that in one season!!

looks to me a bit like a one season wonder too:

2007/08: 24 league appearances, 0 goals
2008/09: 5 league appearances, 0 goals
2009/10: 35 league appearances, 10 goals
2010/11: 10 league appearances, 1 goal

09/10 was a gret year, apart from that.... meh.

do we need another injury prone player?  - Even if he's on a free?

I saw that he had one season with 10 goals and he gets a decent amount of assists as well.  I think it's worth the risk.  We sign him on a short contract, 2 years maybe, and sell him if it doesn't work out.  His wages can't be that high, it just doesn't make sense.

Players usually play better on better teams anyway.  I'm not saying Rennes isn't good, because in the french league they are decent, but if he gets to play with Liverpool, he will experience a different level.  If he steps up, then we've made a good purchase.  If he doesn't, we get rid of him in the summer.

29 goals in 56 matches for Dortmund.  That's a very good ratio in a decent league.  He's scoring as much as Dzeko was.  He is also probably the main reason that Dortmund has torn the Bundesliga apart this season.

I would love to have him.  He's 26 years old, so still got some time and he seems quite a decent player.

Nul Sahin, Neven Subotic and Kagawa are the main reasons but hes still a great striker

Hopefully hes just a squad player

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen claims he would not consider a move to Liverpool, saying Barcelona is the only club that could tempt him away from Ajax.

The highly-rated teenager has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, and Reds assistant manager Sammy Lee was recently spotted on a scouting trip to watch the 19-year-old in action.

Eriksen has a contract at Ajax until 2014, and the Denmark international says he would turn down any offer to join the Premier League.

"If I got an offer from Liverpool right now, I believe I would reject it," Eriksen told the Danish media.

"Ajax is a good club for me at the moment and I believe it will be that for a couple of years. If I did move, it would have to be to FC Barcelona."

Could you imagine a front 3 of Suarez Carroll Sanchez

I've watched him alot, the most recent occasion he scored 4 goals against Palermo I believe. Absolutely different class.

Fingers crossed!!

Ya he's incredible.  He can play on the wing as well, which would be great for us because he is fast as hell. Di Natale is the top scorer right now because Sanchez and him work so well together.

11 goals and 3 assists in 25 games this season for a somewhat average team to be honest.  Him and Di Natale have completely carried Udinese.
