35M is way way over the odds but if Carroll does comes good then many will see this as a stroke of genius..tho a big risk I believe signing Carroll will make fans get over losing Torres..I rather the owner splash then constantly ask to shop from bargain bin

I bet this time next year we will be in a better position going into a transfer session.
We would be better managed with better planning, scouting and better overall team management, so no more last minute selling/buying of players.

hope your rite. cos this isnt good for the health haha

@SkyBet: Charlie Adam to join Liverpool cut to 1/5 as punters pile in, presumably as a consequence of the news the Reds have agreed a £50million package for Fernando Torres

As Paul Tomkins points out - Ultimately, players are only worth what the selling club value them at and the buying club are prepared to pay. Resale value a factor, too.

Hence why Newcastle will only sell for £35m. They want to keep their prized asset unless they are offered a deal they could not reasonably  turn down.

And we bid £35m because, a) we can identify talent b) he is young enough to retain his value, especially so when you consider his potential growth on the European scene.

Consider, David Villa was transferred for £35m, at 28, yet in two years he will be 30 and his resale value will of halved.

Also bear in mind, if Carroll creates a partnership with Suarez and creates loads of goals for him. We will see Suarez's value rocket. The investment in Carroll may well be to benefit the team as a whole rather than investment in an individual.

Yeah definitely, a full back and a center back. Dont think we need those wingers that everybody talks about that much.

theres lots of really interestin points, that caroll can be a great investment, if him and suarez click, with a few squad players lik young, adam etc i am greatly confident and actually looking forward very optimistically.
best cure to get over torres syndrome is havin 2 quality strikers and midfielders to replace him.
