Didn't David Villa say, after the world cup, that he expected Nando to join Chelsea?

And how unfair is it to start giving the lad this level of stick when all he has done is say he would like to leave the club! I think personally its disgusting. Kenny himself has been promoting the club and the dignified way that it treats the supporters and other clubs but some here are not reciprocating this attitude. Do you think he has done this out of petulance or on a whim? NO.. this has been coming and we all knew it.

The lad clearly wants to leave. If he does go, which is by no means certain I wish him all the best and thank him for the effort he has put it over the last four years. And if we hold out for the 50 million in his contract it will be good business, doubling our investment. Also remember that he has been injury prone and has missed a lot of football. Its not that terrible if he goes.

We have been fortunate to have Fernando Torres at the club for four years. He has scored goals and without them really where would we have been?

If the lad is set on leaving we do not know the reason. Only Fernando knows why he wants to leave and has obviously communicated to the club but he is not shouting to the press or throwing tantrums. He is conducting himself properly and should be afforded the respect he deserves.

I like everyone else think that he is being stupid for wanting to leave, but for crying out loud give him a break and show some class!

:bowdown  Its ironic that most posters on here have been calling Torres a child

Although to be coming out with that lies and broken promises nonsense now with FSG is kind of like taking out issues on your ex wife with your new gf.

agree with a lot of what you say and i've been saying for months that he looks like a player who wants out. Scroll through this thread, i said it a week ago when he scored against Wolves and never celebrated. It's been on the cards all season.

But for the lad to come out on friday night and tell the club he wants to be gone by monday is a slap in the face to the club that's stood by him through injuries and the fans who've supported him through a dreadful run of form.

If he wants out, then fine. Masch was the same and we let him go, and we'll do the same with Torres...but on our terms. If Chelsea REALLY want him then they'll have to pay, and pay big.

I'd send a fax that says:

We want 50 million and Sturridge.

TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT YOU BUNCH OF :censored:.

There are rumours on twitter that Torres has withdrawn his transfer request and will make a statement but I don't believe it. Also rumours that Chelsea and Liverpool will both make a statement tonight.

Well, as the saying goes, timing is everything.  I think must people would have felt better about the transfer request if it had been handed in on May 28th rather than January 28th.  No one wants to see a top player look to cut ties and move on but it could have just about been stomached if it came at the end of the season rather than 3 days before the January window closes in a season that's already seen enough turmoil.  Add to that the fact that he's playing footsy with the fooking Chavs and you've can understand the venom he's getting.  I'm gutted he's gone about it this way but I hope we can turn it to our advantage somehow by using the money to start the proper rebuilding project we all know this squad needs.  Hopefully we'll be able to look back on this sorry period as the moment when we started laying the foundations for our return to glory.

if true then it's just a case of putting off the inevitable. He'll go in the summer.
