SO - Chelsea put in an 11th hour bid for Fernando.. he then puts in a transfer request, after urging the cloob to consider the bid

.. smells of a tap-up to me ! I hope LFC pursue this - will not have gone un-noticed I' sure

It seems to me that there's an element of brinkmanship to all of this. Torres submitted the transfer request last night which would suggest it was after the Chelsea bid had been made but just a couple of hours after the deal for Suarez had been agreed and announced. I doubt that Torres asked Liverpool to negotiate with Chelsea yesterday morning when the bid was rejected but rather was encouraged to ask for a move last night when it was apparent that Liverpool were bringing in a new striker. I doubt that Sturridge will form part of any deal and that the club are likely to insist on at least £40 million for Torres if not higher.

I don't think Sturridge would be a good move. It's almost back to the situation in terms of transition and change of the start of the season when the likes of Poulsen, Meireles and Jovanovic had to settle in. I can't see Sturridge with Suarez up front but clearly given the problems Torres departure would cause Dalglish it's obvious why he doesn't want to sell at the moment.

They'll be more turmoil at Chelsea - Ancelloti is losing the plot, the team is ageing..

In the summer , we will be strngthening, the managers position will be confirmed and it will be onwards and upwards.

I bet all the players are gonn be stunned too

So, if nando is off, the club continues. Foreign players very seldom stay forever. For me, I'd take 50+ mill for Torres as a season ticket holder, I see up close that he has lost a bit of pace and isn't the great player we had a few years ago.

Benzema with Suarez would probably be a better partnership actually. Torres is a lone striker. Then we could still get young and a left sided player. Nzogbia or turan.

Good post mate, agree and hadn't even thought of Benzema. Was he the 2nd choice if we failed with Suarez?

The ball is in our court. I just hope Comollli is out getting someone else in.

Good idea... I would even take Eto'o + 10 million or so...

Eto'o is a more versatile striker than Torres and at the moment probably better than Torres... only thing is Torres is younger...
