I have a massive part on my wall with a great picture of Torres on that my Mrs bought me last year for my birthday.
It sounds stupid but its hard to look at it right now. The guy is my hero and I have supported him all through his terrible dip in form.
It hurts that he has done this to the club and the fans that support him, But what do we expect really??
He did it to Athletico, the club he loved and the fans that loved him.

The guy has ambitions and he wants to win trophies and we have been a club on the decline. He is now at his prime at 26 years old don't forget.

I heard he had a gentleman agreement to stay while the summer but Chelski have come in now and unsettled him.
I'd love him to stay while the summer at least but is his heart going to be up for the war? Is the passion still going to be at the club.
I thought the signing of Suarez might have shown our amitions to move forward but obviously he wants bigger things.

Guillem Balague said on Sky that there is no such clause, he said something about it being the normal thing to have in Spain but it is different when a player moves here ? Does anyone know if there is a clause and if there is surely Chelsea must have been made aware of it so why the ridiculous offer. I cant wait for the deadline to pass and hopefully he will still be a Liverpool player and then with a bit more time he will understand ( like Rooney,Tevez etc) that he should stay

Guillem Balague said on twit that he donrt know who re twited his old post about not having the 50mil thing.

the way he posted it was sort of taking a step back from his post.

It isn't a re-twit, there is a video of him talking live to Sky ( trying to find the link ) and he said although he has not seen the contract he understands that there is no such clause

Let him go.

50 mil, thanks and cheerio Fernando.

For whatever reason he wants to go, it has been blatantly obvious he doesn't want to be here for a while.  Nobody is bigger than this club, it'll be around long after he fu.cks off.

I've said before we should sell while at peak value.  He's 26, he'll be finished by 29, mark my words.  He's already lost a yard of pace and has hamstring and knee problems.  Only a mug would pay what Chelsea are about to for someone with that injury record.

I think we will get Benzema in on loan until the end of the season lets see what happens with him and Suarez upfront, we must plan our future without him now there is noway back.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

Agreed.

I've resigned myself to him going now.

If he does a massive u-turn, apologises and stays then fair enough.

If not, then fu.ck him, I'm not gonna be crying over it.  We move on.

Devastated if he leaves. If he wants to win trophies, why go to Chelsea? I think he is just looking to get one last fat contract since he knows he is injury prone. Don't know what to say. At the end of the day, this is just a job for him. Read somewhere that chelsea is offering 160k sterling per week with huge signing bonus. Well, money is money and I hated him for leaving but the reality is it is what it is. Just can't reject that kind of money I suppose. But I would feel better if he doesn't goes to any club in England.

Devstated - is an understatement and chelsea 11th hour - the club should make him stay and suffer, jus coshe wants to go does not mean he can.
LFC statement is correct and they are right to let us know what is going on, Fenway can not be blamed if he does go, and we need to know that, given all the speculation.

I suspect that the Torres situation is similar to that in many ways of the Rooney saga at United a few months ago. The agent has probably turned his head pushed him into testing the owners ambitions with the transfer request in order to see what they are prepared to come up with and with the Suarez deal completing things could change in the next twenty four hours or so.

The whole thing has whiff of something not quite right at all given that he's done this just a few days before the window ends and with the club in talks to buy Suarez over recent days.  Surely the time to have asked for a move was last summer when the club was under the ownership of H&G and there was no money for the reinforcements Torres wanted at the club. Given how poor his world cup was and his recovery from injury I'm guessing his advisors told him to stay put at Anfield as there would have been few serious bidders who would have paid what Liverpool would have wanted.

Footballers have too much power in the game nowadays quite apart from the financial side of things telling owners and managers how much they should be spending and on how many players to improve things. Torres was great for Liverpool for the first 2 years or so but the writing has been on the wall for at least the last year or so. If Dalglish and the owners can't come up with the answers this weekend that Torres is looking for with regard to the future Liverpool should push Chelse as high as they can go. If he is to go it should be on the club's terms not his and if that means he has to sit on the bench till the summer while Suarez becomes the new fans hero then so be it.

even thats debateable... Footballs changed, its all money, no heart, no soul, no real bother by it anymore, cant be shocked about what players want... just hope while they are here they do there best, cant really expect loyalty in the money game today anymore, or its very rare at least

It's not.

Rooney didn't put in a written transfer request.

I can't believe how quickly 'fans' have turned on Torres, hastily writing and rearranging songs, spanish knt??! He can fck off??!, and we have the temerity to ask for loyalty?

Our club captain, a scouser 'who gets the club', nearly went there twice. FFS he has put in a transfer request, we don't know why, maybe he wants a pay rise from us, or maybe he is sick of the false promises he has been given. Whatever the reason, there is no harm in us holding fire and giving the club, Kenny and the other senior players a chance to speak to Fernando.

I'm just as p15sed off as anyone else here, and if he wants to go then I don't care where it is, I want the club to get at least 50m, enough to find two top top players. Who knows, maybe Kenny would rather have someone else
