Think we will bide our time and sign him on a free in the summer. Worth a punt if a freeby!

Reds make Huth enquiry

Skysports.com understands Liverpool have made a firm enquiry for Robert Huth.

However, Stoke appear intent on keeping the Germany international.

Huth has played over 20 times for the Potters already this season and is proving he is well over the fitness concerns which blighted his previous spells with Chelsea and Middlesbrough.

The towering centre-back moved to the Britannia Stadium in the summer of 2009 when Stoke paid Boro £5million for his services.

Tony Pulis has been delighted by Huth's impact but his form has attracted the attention of rival clubs, including Liverpool.

Skysports.com understand that the Reds made an enquiry earlier this week.

It is believed the struggling Anfield outfit would have been willing to pay £5million, but it is understood Stoke would want double that before even considering doing a deal.

If we're going for a Stoke defender I'd rather have Ryan Shawcros. Huth is Ok but we dont need an Ok player. We have Ok players- Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Konchesky and at the momment they arent much of a help. We need a good defender, one that can keep things under controle, someone like Carragher only he's kind of rusty now so we need a new one and the only guy from Stoke that can do that kind of a job is Shawcros. That kind of a defender combined with either Agger or Skrtel and you have a solid defence. On the other hand though Shawcros might be a bit young for that kind of responsibility and we need to be certain that we are getting the right man for the job. I mean he has the abillity but he might just not be the right man for Liverpool.

Anyway, we should definitely start getting players on loan and now is the perfect time for that.

My uncle is a season ticket holder at Stoke and reckons Huth is the better player. He did say neither are good enough for us if we are looking at improving though.

I would agree, Shawcross appears popular with him being young and english but doesnt seem anything special to me and would cost alot probably.

Agreed. Samba alongside Agger would be a decent combo.

Good 2 see us being link Davide Santon of Inter Milan (check out imscouting or the offical website). Hes young, a solid performer and can play either side. This is the type of player that i thought about when the new owners appointed Comoli as chief scout and talked about what thier priorities in the transfer market were. Lukaku, Chamberlain, Hazard, Turan, Wickham, Sakho, Jones these are the players the fans want not the Huths,Coles and Marveauxs of this world
