Taxi for Torres - judas fecks off to chelsea

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If it means taking one step back to then take two steps forward I would cash in on Torres.
By that I mean if we can still command a premium transfer fee to reinvest in the BEST young British players and evolve into a top side then so be it.
Something radical has to happen because if we finish mid to lower table we are not going to be able to command big transfer fees as player power will dictate as happen with Mascherano.

Looks like he doesn't want to play for us, people might blame the manager, tactics, other players, who do you blame when a so called top striker cannot even hold onto the ball?

Sell him.

nah i wouldnt sell him just yet. lets see if he responds better to a new manager in charge who has a different approach.
selling him would be a massive mistake especially since we have no of his caliber to replace him as yet.
Torres has a reputation or producing match winning moments too, a spark, which we desperately lack since Luis Garcia left.
i wouldnt wanna sell a match winner.
furthermore, we're a more attractive option to prospective players when we have someone like Torres in the team.
and when we sell him, the prices of our targets will naturally increase because their clubs will know we have received a good sum for Torres hence we might end up paying over the odds for someone who might be worth lesser.
therefore, if selling him is really something to be seriously considered, sell him only if he fails to flourish under the new manager.
and sell him only after we buy the new strikers so we will not be ripped off by paying more.

I know what you saying and hope you are right.
Like many supporters I have idolised Torres, my home shirt has a number 9 and his name on the back - but he really looks like he doesn't want to be here anymore.

If you look around the league at other strikers and how they retain the ball, lay it off, hold it up, bring players into the game - I don't see Torres doing any of that on a regular basis and it's just not good enough.
A top striker should be able to do all of these things and he just hasn't done so all season.

No doubt the official site will be full of how he is working his way back to fitness, or he can do better!

Get someone new in after roy, see how he plays, if it continues..............Sell him.........

Never thought id say that but he looks like he simply does not care and cant be bothered and we are in enough trouble without sulky strikers.

I feel totally let down by Torres, his performances have been pitiful of late.

Who the Fluk does he think he is?

Does he think he's better than us? don't make me laugh Nando

He needs to watch some videos of Rushie's workrate in EVERY game to see a true No. 9

i love the lad but i feel we're getting mugged off by him.

What do people want the lad to do?  We didn't create a single chance for him.

He is being asked to play like Emile Heskey.

Spot on long aimless punts upfield asking him to do a job that he's not made for, complete waste of the lad and his talents.

A stronger manager would drop him
Torres is becoming a liability and a bad influence on other players

Im no genius but if I had to manage Torres I would try and replicate the tactics that made him a goal machine, not try and turn him into an old fashioned bruiser striker who plays with his back to the goal.

A better manager would play tactics to bring out the best in him

I agree
But the thing is how many times has he had genuine chances he would have scored with his eyes closed and has fu'cked up?
I saw him arguing last night in the first half and watched it again this morning. Who was he arguing with and why?

Even when he got the ball, his first touch was poor and couldn't control it properly. Yesterday though he was starved off service, but he didn't help himself either by trying harder. He did show some lovely passes in the first half.

I really hope he finds his form and prove me wrong, I really do

Like I said even last season... I think it is better if we sold him. The money will be good, would have been even better if we sold him earlier. I think that we can get a new striker for the money that we'll get from him and even sort out some other positions.
