Can't be ar'sed to list all the reasons "why" he might appear to be a shadow of his former self, I'm sure we all have our opinion on that, however what is abundantly clear to me is that given his performances so far this season Torres has managed to reduce his pre world cup valuation from the £60 - £70 million mark to at most half of that figure.

So far this season it does appear that he's no longer in love with or has belief in us and we may come to regret that our love for and belief in the fella has perhaps stopped the board from accepting the top whack kind of money for Torres when it was still available.

:(

don't agree mate, you know as well as anyone who have watched the team over the years that every- & i mean every quality striker LFC have had suffers a dip in form,or goes a few games without scoring. it happens- has that meant that they have fallen out of love with the club or can't be arssed -no fecking chance,no way!

i can remember lots of top quality strikers wev'e had that went through lean spells, but like torres they were always available in or around the box to miss those chances! an that was in the days of religiously playing 4-4-2. so two strikers to feed an two strikers to miss chances, when you play up front on your own an chances aren't created for you as much as should be then that puts even bigger pressure on you.

this season so far torres has had so little decent service,it's criminal- so much so that he has found himself chasing back to the half way line an beyond just to get involved in the play, let alone get time an space for himself to be a danger to the oppo & get in a goal scoring opportunity.

for me, it's frustaiting to watch such lack of support, awarness an lack of quality ball played to him to achieve what we all know will happen as an end result -the ball in the back of the net, let alone what it must be like for the man himself!

the likes of torres don't become bad strikers overnight,an he will continue for me to be our best striker this club has had for years an years to come! ffs don't even mention a valuation or even what we might get for him during a so called bad run- we sell him an we really, really would be in major trouble!

I don't disagree with what you've said RH.

I firmly believe in the saying "class is permanent , form is temporary" and Torres on form is deffo one of the finest forwards we've ever had .
My fear however is that he looks far from happy and is patently out of sorts,  if he decided he wanted to leave us unless he shows a dramatic return to form we'd get nowhere near the £60 mill figure that was being attached to him pre the world cup.

rubbish van der vaart is quality alot better than meireles scored twice again today and will probably get spurs a dozen goals a season. Meireles will probably get 2 a season and cost more.

The problem is if he is sold, if the yanks are still here we will see f uck all of the money so it doesn't matter what we sell him for

how do you know? i recall somebody, i think it was Purslow or Broughton who made mention that whatever funds received from player sales shall be invested in the squad.

It's about time clubs started taking the control back, instead of the players.

NOt that he has asked to leave but as others have said, the club should stand firm "4 years on your contract son, get on with it" No-one is happy at the moment, but :censored: me get a grip

pity others on this forum dont think like you. Nando can do no wrong. I said sell him before the start of the season and i was laughed at. A top professional leads by example on the pitch not like a spoilt prima dona.

Obviously I already knew that.
But it is sweet of you to acknowledge it.

Cheers Perm, emulation is the most sincere form of flatery. (We'll ignore the fact that it also displays an acute lack of imagination)
