I wish nando would show that sort of passion.

read the post again pal did i say davis was better than nando. no davis couldnt tie nandos boot laces. all i meant was davies is always up for the dogfight and its a pity some of our mega stars dont follow his example.

People need to cut Nando some slack.  He has been banging in goals for us left, right and centre for the last 3 years.  He has been at the European Championship, Confederations Cup and World Cup and has hardly had a pre season since he joined us.

Not to mention all the injuries he has suffered.  His confidence is low on the pitch and at the club in general.

Its a difficult situation to manage as well cos if the manager doesn't play him in lesser games and we lose... manager gets slated.  If we do play him in the Europa League and he gets injured 10 mins into the next game...manager gets slated.

He needs a serious period of rest. How much football has this guy played over the past 3 years?

Pepe Guardiolla said last week that Xavi was bolloxed having played way too much since 2008.

Laughably there's no way Torres will get (and probably doesnt personally want) the period of rest he needs given the side's problems/

Love the Lad and the fact he's still in this pitiful excuse for a team with the manager we have at the helm ... speaks volumes for his loyalty

YOu must be kidding me. He was banging in goals for us and single handed got us so many wins and played his butt off for us ever since he came. I didn't see you complaining about him not being in a dogfight then! HOw short memories you have. How much service he is getting from the rest of the team this season? By playing more defensively, he got more grounds to cover up front and he just can't do it alone. He had done his best with the opportunities he's got. I thought this would be common sense and knowledgeable football fans should know this. I guess I'm wrong. Kevin Davies is a fecking joke. Why didn't you just follow his team if you like Davies so much. Just do a fecking Davies exchange for Torres right now. Unfu.cking believable......

Does anyone else think this news will increase the chances of him staying for another year?

I would like him to stay but if he has problem with Gerrard and Carra, the chances of Torres staying are slim as he can practically go to any team he wants. Most likely Barca i suppose.

Mate, there's shades of Michael Owen as far as Torres and his recurring injuries are concerned and if he can't overcome them we might have to start asking ourselves would we we want him to stay ?

fair point woof.

the main question there is though, is he worth anything near wheat he was a year or so ago? there was talk of £50-60m when chelsea and man city were sniffing around. after his horrendous world cup and recent injury record you'd probably be looking at half that now. at least once the takeover is completed there's a good chance that any money we did receive would be reinvested in the squad.

Wasted under our current management even under Rafa last season (who I wanted out) managed 18 goals in 20 Premier League games, this season 1 in 7, says it all really.

I saw an interview the other day with a former player of Hodgson's and he stated clearly (think it was Lars Bohinen) that Torres will not flower under Roy as Roy likes striker or prefers strikers that will run their :censored: off.

When I looked at previous strikers under Roy it kindof makes sense:

Switzerland - Stephane Chauisat & Adrian Knup.
Inter Milan - Marco Branca & Maurizio Ganz.
Blackburn Rovers - Nathan Blake & Kevin Davies.
Grasshoppers Zurich - Patrick De Napoli - James Obiorah.
Finland - Jonatan Johannson.
Fulham - Bobby Zamora & Andy Johnson.

It's a case of either Roy goes or Torres goes for me as Torres does not fit into our non productive game, and strikers such as Torres thrive off teams that press high up the field, which we co not do.
