Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Funnily enough, I just asked a mate of mine in Madrid about this rumour, and this is what he had to say about it...
"complete and total made up bullshyt, from a joke journalist who doesnt speak Spanish and makes up interviews. NOONE in Spain calls Torres "Nando" . Sky Sports News should know better."

:D

It may well come down to who the owners are in jan and what the financial situation of the club is - getting 40 to 50 mil into the club may well be vital .

That's a whole different discussion, though.  Who'll be running the show come January and what their motives will be with regards to Nando and big money offers very much remains to be seen.  This latest discussion, though, revolves around the player's wishes and my point there is that no player under contract has free reign to decide when he'll be sold.

Well we have seen in the case of masher that the players can have a big say in when they go - if Torres does decide he wants to leave then I can see the offers coming in for him and him leaving but I don't think he would leave mid season .

I won't be surprised if anyone wanted to leave TBH. If things get worse, Torres might leave in Jan even though he can't play in any European games. With the mess that we are in, and the bank's seeking control, I would think they love their money more than Torres. So, he might even be forced to be sold for money purpose. Just feel kind of bad if this happened because these kind of players don't come along often for us. The chance of this happening probably around 50/50 but if we don't get top 4 and has the owner situation settled, there is zero chances Torres still stay beyond this year. Then we will be stuck with the likes of Ngog, Jovanovic et el.

Torres looks really unhappy at the moment. I think he got some promises from the club this summer that were not fulfilled. But still i cant see him moving before next summer.

The stick he is getting is a bit unfair.  He won the pen and free at OT.  He assisted Kuyt and Gerrard the other day and he scored a good goal that was wrongly ruled out...

But i wouldn't blame him if he left soon enough.  i think he got promises that once again haven't materialised.

Maybe... But only if they give us Terry and Lampard + Drogba ..
Roy should really look into it... You should email him about it I'm sure he'd appreciate it...  :nod

I don't know what the fk is going on with Torres.

Can't be ar'sed to list all the reasons "why" he might appear to be a shadow of his former self, I'm sure we all have our opinion on that, however what is abundantly clear to me is that given his performances so far this season Torres has managed to reduce his pre world cup valuation from the £60 - £70 million mark to at most half of that figure.

So far this season it does appear that he's no longer in love with or has belief in us and we may come to regret that our love for and belief in the fella has perhaps stopped the board from accepting the top whack kind of money for Torres when it was still available.

If we have to sell him then we should not settle for anything less than 55-60Mil imo. He still has what 4 years on his deal? There are only a few clubs that can afford him anyway so if they want him they will have to cough up.

The problem is if he is sold, if the yanks are still here we will see f uck all of the money so it doesn't matter what we sell him for
